Professors of the department consult the most complex patients in the department of anesthesiology and intensive care.
In accordance with part two of Article 33 of the Law of Ukraine “Fundamentals of Ukrainian Legislation on Health Care,” paragraph 8 of the Regulations on the Organization of the Educational Process in Health Care Institutions with the Participation of Scientific and Pedagogical Workers of Higher Education Institutions that Train Higher Education Seekers in the Field of Health Care , approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1337 of December 28, 2020, and the cooperation agreement between the Kyiv City Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 2, an executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration), the Kyiv City Maternity Hospital No. 6″ and the Bogomolets National Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Department of Pediatrics No. 2 carries out medical and consulting work in accordance with the established procedure at the above-mentioned clinical bases in Kyiv.
Medical and consulting work is currently provided by 20 scientific and pedagogical employees of the department, including part-time assistants working at the Kyiv City Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 2 (Assistant O.T. Kireeva, Head of the Diagnostic and Boxing Department, Assistant Ponomarev S.K. – resident physician of the pediatric department No. 2).
Among the teachers of the Department of Pediatrics No. 2, 20 doctors have the highest medical qualification category in the specialty “Pediatrics”, 2 have the first medical qualification category, 1 has the second medical qualification category, and 2 are medical specialists. Associate professors of the department, I.O. Loginova and T.I. Shevtsova, have the highest medical qualification category in the specialty of Neonatology.
In 2025, the faculty members of the department conducted 2,842 consultations for the most complex patients at both clinical bases and treated 486 children. Professors and associate professors of the department participate in the expert assessment of the quality of medical care provided to children who died in the clinic as a result of very severe diseases. They participate in clinical and pathological conferences and give lectures on current issues in pediatrics for practicing doctors at the clinic and in the region.

Head of the Department of Pediatrics No. 2, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Volosovets O.P. is a co-author of the evidence-based clinical guidelines and medical care standard “Out-of-hospital pneumonia in children” (Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 1380 dated August 2, 2020). Professor Kryvopustov S.P. is a reviewer of the above-mentioned medical and technical documentation.
Head of the Department of Pediatrics No. 2, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Volosovets O.P., on behalf of the DEC of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, was a reviewer of the evidence-based clinical guidelines and medical care standard “Alimentary rickets in children” in 2023.
Head of the Department of Pediatrics No. 2, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Volosovets O.P. is a member of the Medical Council at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 1509 dated July 2, 2020).
The head of the Department of Pediatrics No. 2, Prof. Volosovets O.P., coordinated the selection of national experts from the All-Ukrainian Medical Association to the multidisciplinary medical committees of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) on a national scale.

On January 17, 2025, as part of ensuring continuous professional development for practicing physicians in Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Pediatrics 2025. New Year’s Meetings” was held.
On September 18-20, a scientific and practical conference “Current Issues in Pediatrics” (XXVII Sidelnikov Readings) was held in Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
