Treatment Work
The treatment work of the Department of Ophthalmology is carried out at the department’s clinical bases: the Central Polyclinic of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Medical Center of Children’s Ophthalmology and Microsurgery of the Eye of the State National Academy of Medical Sciences “OKHMATDYT”, the universal clinic “Oberig”, the medical center of LLC “Ochi Clinic”, the medical center of LLC “OK Novyj Zir”, medical center LLC “ZIR 100%”, medical center PE “World of Health”, medical center “Medical center Asklepiy Plus”, State institution “Main Medical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine”, medical center LLC “German Eye Clinic” “, the medical center of Lux Vision LLC.
The surgical activity of the department’s employees is on average about 1,000 operations per year. Operative interventions are carried out both in a hospital and on an outpatient basis. Every week, employees of the department conduct examinations, rounds and consultations in polyclinics and inpatients of clinical bases, more than 5,000 consultations every year.
The main areas of medical work of the department are: minimally invasive ophthalmic surgery; new methods of surgical treatment of cataract with implantation of an artificial lens; diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma; ophthalmoplasty and ocular prosthetics, diagnosis and treatment of vitreoretinal pathology; diagnosis and treatment of eye pathology in children; diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases; diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases of the organ of vision; laser methods of treatment of eye diseases; oncophthalmology; development and implementation of methods for determining the stiffness of the fibrous capsule of the eye, etc.
PARTNERS OF THE DEPARTMENT
Based on today’s needs, the department closely cooperates with foreign and domestic partners, scientific work is carried out in cooperation with the Department of Ophthalmology of the Royal Medical University of London, the Royal London Hospital (Moorfields Eye Hospital), the Royal Hospital of Edward VII (King Edward VII Hospital, Windsor), the Institute of Biomedical of the National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI”, Institute of Physiology named after O.O. Bogomolets National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Institute of Occupational Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Institute of Information Registration Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The department maintains business relations with departments and clinics of ophthalmology in Germany, Poland, Austria, England, the USA, Georgia and Central Asia.
