In the context of the modern challenges and stresses faced by Ukrainian society, the specialty of «Medical Psychology» has become increasingly important. Medical psychologists are now an integral part of the healthcare system, working both on the front lines in medical institutions and as part of multidisciplinary teams. They develop and implement psychosocial support programs for various population groups, helping to restore emotional balance and maintain optimal mental health.
The specialty «Medical Psychology», which interns study at Bogomolets National Medical University at the Department of Medical Psychology, Psychosomatic Medicine, and Psychotherapy of the Educational and Research Institute of Mental Health, is one of the most in-demand medical specialties in the healthcare sector.
In the context of war and post-war society, medical psychologists have become an essential link in preserving the mental health of individuals facing traumatic events. They not only help military personnel adapt to stressful conditions and overcome psychological trauma but also consider the impact of war on civilians. Medical psychologists provide support to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and implement rehabilitation and social integration programs. They play a key role in building resilience and psychological stability in a society confronting the challenges of armed conflict and its aftermath.
