Student Scientific clubat the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology of the BogomoletsNational Medical University has been operating since its founding in 1919. Throughout that time, student groupswere ledby the department heads – experienced scientists and teachers (Professor NeshchadymenkoM.P., Professor Dyachenko SS). Among the students of the scientific club of the department are such famous scientists as N.S. Dyachenko, V.P. Shyrobokov, V.G.Maidannyk, O.P.Selnykova, O.I.,Yevtushenkoand others. For the period from 1948 to 2016, 190 students were recommended for scientific work, from them are academicians – 1, doctors of sciences – 23, candidates of sciences – 70.
1). The directions of work of aStudent Scientific club are various. One of them is the study of program material, in particular, the ability to use modern literature, preparation and presentation during practical training with a scientific abstract. The department pays great attention to the organization of university and all-Ukrainian student Olympiads in microbiology, virology and immunology, student conferences, workshops that are devoted to the disclosure of the most important aspects of etiology, pathogenesis, laboratory diagnostics and prevention of infectious diseases.
Students participate in experimental research. Under the guidance of a consultant (professor, assistant professor, assistant), students master modern methods of research. At the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology, this area receives the greatest attention.
2). The Student Scientific club operates at the research base of the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology. Students are provided with the most up-to-date equipment, work in laminar boxes, virological laboratories, microscopic research laboratories, equipped with 2 modern electron microscopes, and a genetic laboratory.
