Educational activities

Educational work at the department is combined with educational and methodical, scientific research and is aimed at forming the personality of a professional doctor, moral and spiritual qualities of a medical student, active citizenship.

The lectures of professors and assistant professors of the department regularly cover issues of medical ethics, medical deontology, and the traditions of the Kyiv Therapeutic School.

Acquaintance of students with the clinic begins in the 1st year of studying medical ethics, aesthetics, deontology, basic questions about moral and judicial responsibility, norms of behavior, rules of personal hygiene of a medical worker.

At the practical classes on propaedeutics of internal medicine, which are held in the ward next to the patient’s bed, the teachers use their own example to teach communication with the patient, methods of physical examination.
During the independent work of students with patients, the teacher monitors the student’s behavior and appearance and tactfully points out the student’s mistakes.

At the meetings of the student scientific circle, the culture of working with literary sources is cultivated when conducting research work, writing abstracts and reports at student scientific conferences. Every year, Gurtkiv students take part in scientific conferences and the competition of student scientific works and receive prizes. The professors of the department cover educational, professional, language problems on the pages of the press, on radio and television.

Students are taught a healthy lifestyle by discussing the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs on the body. These questions are regularly discussed at lectures and practical classes, where when analyzing the etiology of peptic ulcer disease, liver cirrhosis, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, these factors are indicated as one of the main ones.

Employees of the department, together with students, participate in educational, volunteer and public events of NMU, Ministry of Health (donation, measurement of blood pressure, measurement of blood glucose). The students together with the docent responsible for educational work Karmazina O.M. visit museums, theaters, scientific medical library.

During 2022-2024, department staff together with students take an active part in volunteer events and meetings for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
