New directions in diagnostics:
– evaluation of anti-inflammatory and anti-destructive action of basic therapeutic remedies (BTR) in psoriatic arthritis by studying of the level of new connective tissue destruction markers dynamics;
– enhancement of the diagnostic algorithm in systemic necrotizing vasculitis;
– enhancement of diagnosis and treatment of spondyloarthritis based on the study of bone metabolism markers;
– determining the role of inflammation markers in the course of systemic lupus erythematosus monitoring;
– joints ultrasound in diagnosis and assessment of osteoarthritis and inflammatory arthropathy treatment efficacy;
– differential diagnosis of obstructive pulmonary disease using modern methods of assessment of the function of external respiration with the use of bronchodilator test on the SpiroCom apparatus of the National Aerospace University “KhAI”;
– modern methods of serological diagnostics (CRP, TNF-α, IL-4, IL-8 in sputum and blood serum) in the evaluation of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) treatment effectiveness;
– Holter ECG monitoring in patients with coronary artery and bronchopulmonary diseases;
– ultrasonographic investigation in the diagnostics of atherosclerotic and inflammatory lesions of the heart and blood vessels;
– investigation of amino acid and fatty acid membrane ATP-ases, hemorheological and immune status indicators to predict the course of COPD and myocardial infarction;
– creation of new and improvement of existing methods of diagnostics in nephrological patients;
– investigation of mechanisms of formation and progression of immune-mediated and bacterial-induced lesions of the kidneys, diabetic kidney disease;
– complex videoesophagogastroscopy, endoscopic ultrasonography of the stomach;
– biopsy diagnostics of esophagus, stomach and intestines diseases.
New directions of treatment
– differentiated selection of non-biological basic remedies (NBBR) in various clinical and laboratory characteristics and duration of rheumatoid arthritis;
– elaboration of the of combined basic therapy methods of psoriatic arthritis;
– implementation and improvement of immunobiological therapy in inflammatory arthropathies;
– substantiation and elaboration of differentiated approaches to the prevention/ treatment of early atherogenesis in systemic inflammatory connective tissue lesions;
– improvement and standardization of local injection therapy methods and post-injection management of patients with inflammatory and degenerative joint lesions;
– participation in the examination, standardization and implementation of new pharmacotherapeutic technologies of the State Expert Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the state formulary system by pulmonological and rheumatological work directions;
– implementation and approbation of the newest methods of pulmonary obstructive diseases treatment;
– improving the quality of life and better the course of patients with severe COPD through development and implementation of new mucoactive nebulizer therapy schemes;
– differentiated approach to cytoprotective therapy in acute myocardial infarction patients;
–hemomicrocirculatory and immune disorders medication correction in COPD patients;
– creation of new and improvement of existing methods of treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of nephrological profile patients;
–increased survival of patients with chronic kidney disease stage V treated by hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis;
–methodological aspects development of improving of the specialized medical care organization for adults with urinary system diseases;
– creation of new and improvement of existing treatment, prevention and rehabilitation methods of gastroenterological profile patients .

At the clinical bases of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2, medical and consultative work is carried out. At St. Michael’s Clinical Hospital in Kyiv, the staff of the department constantly carry out medical and diagnostic work in the departments of acute coronary conditions, rehabilitation for patients with myocardial infarction, resuscitation and intensive care for cardiac patients, rheumatological, cardiology and consultative and diagnostic clinics. On the basis of the National Military Medical Clinical Center of the Main Military Clinical Hospital, medical and diagnostic testing is carried out in the therapeutic clinic. The department takes an active part in the consultative and therapeutic work of the polyclinic of the University Clinic of the Bogomolets National Medical University.
The main areas of work of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2:
- Treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction
- Treatment of patients with chronic coronary syndrome
- Immunobiological therapy of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis
- Determination of bone mineral density and muscle mass in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis
- Treatment of cardiovascular, nephrological complications and consequences of COVID 19 infection
Methods of examination and treatment used at the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2:
- Noninvasive measurement of central hemodynamics by aplanation tonometry in patients with chronic coronary syndromes and osteoporosis
- Modern determination of markers of bone remodeling and indicators of bone mineral density in patients with chronic coronary syndromes and osteoporosis
- Modern laboratory diagnostics of hypercalciuria in degenerative bone diseases, in particular, osteoporosis
- Use of a therapeutic algorithm for the treatment of hypercalciuria
- The Use of Stress Tests for the Diagnosis of Stable Coronary Heart Disease
- Application of immunological research methods for diagnosis and differential diagnosis of systemic connective tissue diseases, rheumatoid arthritis
- The use of magnetic resonance imaging for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of joint damage
- Application of ultrasound examination of joints and soft tissues in the diagnosis of joint lesions and differential diagnosis of joint syndrome

- Determination of the relationship between bone mineral density and vascular wall stiffness
- Effects of different combinations of drug therapy on the course of cardiovascular and nephrological complications in patients with COVID-19 infection
- Study of Sarcopenia in Adult Patients with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
- Study of the effect of immunobiological therapy on the development of sarcopenia in adult patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis
