INTERNSHIP IN THE SPECIALTY “RADIOLOGY”
The department provides training for intern doctors in the specialty “Radiology”.
Internship in the specialty “Radiology” is a form of postgraduate training for graduates of higher medical educational institutions of III–IV levels of accreditation, regardless of subordination and form of ownership, who have no contraindications for working in the field of ionizing radiation.
The aim of the training is to prepare a qualified radiologist who can work independently after further specialization in one of the radiological specialties:
- X-ray Radiology;
- Radionuclide Diagnostics;
- Ultrasound Diagnostics (US);
- Radiation Therapy.
The main objectives of internship training are to acquire knowledge in the sections of general and special radiology, and to master basic and special methods of radiation diagnostics, radionuclide diagnostics, and radiation therapy.
Upon completion of the internship, graduates are awarded the qualification of a radiologist.
The internship is conducted in a part-time (evening) form of study over 1.5 academic years, of which:
- 4.5 months — training at the Department of Radiology and related departments;
- 12.5 months — practical training in base healthcare institutions.
The training of radiologists in the internship is carried out according to curricula developed on the basis of the standard curriculum and internship program in accordance with the educational and qualification characteristics and European standards of postgraduate training of medical specialists (UEMS) in radiology.

- Sviato-Mykhailivska Clinical Hospital of Kyiv (01023, Kyiv, 39/1 Shovkovychna St.), Department of X-ray Diagnostics, Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics, Consultative Polyclinic;
- State Institution “National Institute of Surgery and Transplantation named after O.O. Shalimov” of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (03680, Kyiv, 30 Heroiv Sevastopolia St.);
- All-Ukrainian Center for Radiosurgery of the “Feofaniya” Clinical Hospital (03680, Kyiv, 21 Akademika Zabolotnoho St.), Department of Radiation Therapy;
- Kyiv City Clinical Oncology Center (03115, Kyiv, 69 Verkhovynna St.), Department of Radiation Diagnostics;
- National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt” (01135, Kyiv, 28/1 V. Chornovola St.), Radiology Center, Department of Radiation Diagnostics.
SPECIALIZATION IN THE SPECIALTY “X-RAY RADIOLOGY”:
In accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated October 23, 2023 No. 487-l and in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated July 25, 2023 No. 1347 “On Approval of the List of Specialization Cycles and Thematic Improvement in Medical and Pharmaceutical Specialties”, the O.O. Bohomolets National Medical University has received a license for postgraduate education (specialization) in X-ray Radiology.
Specialization is a profiled specialized training conducted to enable a person to perform tasks and duties that have specific features within the specialty.
