Main directions of scientific work:
The research activities of the Educational and Research Center – Ukrainian Family Medicine Training Center are aimed at developing new methods for diagnosing, treating and preventing the most common human diseases, implementing new technologies and equipment for high-quality medical care, creating new and improving existing technologies for the prevention of the most widespread human diseases and creating new technologies to improve the quality of life in the context of the implementation of modern family medicine practices.
Research work
The center plans to carry out scientific works of postgraduate students Illia Bezliuda and Yurii Kovalchuk according to order No. 1083.
Successfully completed research works:
- “Scientific and methodological support for the creation and implementation of a continuous professional development system for doctors specializing in general practice – family medicine” (2007-2009). Applied research. State registration number 0106U004078.
- “Justification for the development and implementation of a community-oriented primary healthcare model based on general practice – family medicine for rural areas in Ukraine” (2009-2011). Applied research. State registration number 0109U001798.
- “Justification of the system mechanisms for implementing innovative technologies in primary healthcare in Ukraine” (2012-2014). Applied research. State registration number 0112U001766.
- “Development of a system to combat the spread of socially dangerous blood-borne viral infections at the primary healthcare level in the context of public health protection in Ukraine” (2018-2020). Applied research. State registration number 0118U001212.
Grant activities:
- European Union project within the framework of the TACIC Technical Assistance Program “Preventive and Primary Healthcare in Ukraine,” carried out in Ukraine according to the Indicative Program agreed between the Government of Ukraine and the European Commission.
- International project in the direction of “Development of a certified training program in public health” under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Project “HIV Reform in Action,” implemented in Ukraine by Deloitte Consulting Overseas Projects LLC in cooperation with the Bogomolets National Medical University and the University of California, San Francisco, with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Institution “Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” and participation of national and international NGOs and experts.
- International Project “International AIDS Education and Training Center” within the framework of the international technical assistance project “Building the Clinical and Administrative Capacity of the HIV/AIDS Services System in Ukraine” under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), supported by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in partnership with the International Training and Education Center for Health at the University of Washington (I-TECH/UW, USA) with the support of the State Institution “Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.”
- International project on the development of a course and conducting a series of trainings “Management of controlled substances in the practice of family doctors” with a grant from the International Renaissance Foundation under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), supported by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in partnership with the International Training and Education Center for Health at the University of Washington (I-TECH).
- Project on the development of a training program and conducting trainings “HIV Prevention Quality Management” within the framework of the international technical assistance program of the American Society for Microbiology under the Global Technical Assistance Program of the American Society for Microbiology on strengthening laboratory capacity (ASM LabCap) in Ukraine with the support of the State Institution “Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.”
- “Women’s Health in Ukraine” program implemented in Ukraine by the John Snow Institute for Research and Training in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
- International project within the implementation of the “Investing in Tuberculosis and HIV Impact” program, funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria with the support of the State Institution “Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.”
- International project on the preparation and conduct of a series of training cycles for doctors and educators in Ukraine under the implementation of the Joint Project of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the WHO European Office in Ukraine “Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs): Prevention and Health Promotion in Ukraine,” supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) with the participation of the WHO national expert group.
- International project on preparing and conducting a series of training cycles for doctors and educators in Ukraine, prepared with the support of the WHO European Office in Ukraine as part of the implementation of the WHO-UNICEF strategy “Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses.”
- Participation in the Legislative Fellows Program (LFP) for specialists from government institutions, organized by the U.S. Department of State, with the support of the American Councils for International Education (ACTR/ACCELS).
- International project with the BMJ (British Medical Journal) Learning Unit (UK), within which an interactive seminar-training was organized and conducted in 2016 by BMJ Learning for educators, young scientists, medical interns, clinical residents, and practicing doctors from the clinical bases of NMU departments (36 participants). Coordination of the participation of NMU educators, young scientists, and clinical residents (150 participants) in the three-year international project of the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the U.S. Risk Reduction Agency and the British Medical Journal (BMJ) “Training Initiative for Clinical Decision Support” (with unlimited access to BMJ Learning and BMJ Practice resources).
- Collaboration with the Access Community Health Network (ACCESS) in Chicago, USA (Memorandum of Cooperation between O.O. Bogomolets NMU and ACCESS signed in 2013).
- Collaboration with the Guilford Family Medicine Clinic (Surrey, British Columbia), which cooperates with the University of British Columbia (UBC) School of Medicine (Canada) (Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2013).
- On the basis of the Ukrainian Training Center for Family Medicine (UTCFS), in cooperation with the Lanzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Ukrainian-Chinese Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine QIHUANG was established in 2013. Thematic improvement training cycles are regularly conducted under the Cooperation Agreement between O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University and the Gansu Province University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (PRC) and the Gansu Province Health Department, with the support and assistance of the Embassy of China in Ukraine.

Public work
Hrechkivska Nataliya Volodymyrivna has been the chief expert of the Kyiv Department of Health on occupational pathology since 2010 and chairs the medical expert commission on occupational pathology at the Kyiv City Center for Occupational Pathology.
Since 2018, she has been heading the NGO “All-Ukrainian Association of Occupational Pathologists and Occupational Medicine Physicians.”
The staff Center has been assisting the Zhytomyr Regional Specialized Children’s Home for many years.
