Anton Anatoliyovych Burlaka 

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Surgeon-Oncologist, Head of the Department of Oncology at Bogomolets National Medical University since 2026. Born in 1985. In 2008, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Bogomolets National Medical University. He began his scientific career during his student years. In 2010, he graduated with honors with a master’s degree in Clinical Oncology and continued his scientific work at the Department of Oncology of the Bogomolets National Medical University. In 2015, he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences, after which he was accepted for the position of senior researcher at the National Cancer Institute. In 2021, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the topic of metabolic and stromal predictors of metastatic colorectal cancer with liver involvement. Over the years, he has held clinical and teaching positions, including assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and head of the Department of Liver, Pancreatic, and Oncovascular Surgery at the National Cancer Institute. Since 2022, he has been an associate professor in the Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Intensive Care at the Bogomolets National Medical University. Since 2025, he has been the head of the Department of Oncology at the NMU. His scientific interests are related to the surgical treatment of malignant neoplasms of the digestive organs, in particular colorectal cancer and metastatic liver damage, and the introduction of organ-preserving and minimally invasive surgical technologies. He is the author of over 200 scientific papers, including publications in the international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science.

He has completed internships at leading European clinics, including Heidelberg University Hospital, the European School of Surgical Ultrasonography (Milan, Italy), and IRCAD (France). He is a member of the editorial boards of professional scientific publications. Since 2024, he has been training doctors in oncological surgery specialization programs.

Vereshchako Roman Ivanovich

Professor of the Department of Oncology at Bogomolets National Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences. In 1985, he graduated from medical school. In 1991-92, he studied in clinical residency at the Department of Pulmonology of the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, after which he worked in the Department of Thoracic Surgery for Adults at the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 17. He took an active part in both practical and scientific work at the clinic. As a candidate, he completed and successfully defended his thesis on “Reconstructive Surgery for Lung Cancer” in 1999.

Since 1999, he has held the highest category in the specialty of “Thoracic Surgery.” He completed internships in the specialties of “Oncosurgery” and “Oncology.”

In 2008, he defended his doctoral dissertation on “Treatment of Esophageal Scar Stenosis.”

Since 2010, he has worked at the Department of Surgery No. 4 of the Bogomolets National Medical University as an assistant, and from 2011 to 2014 as an associate professor. In 2021, he received the title of professor.

He is a member of specialized academic councils for the defense of doctoral dissertations at Bogomolets National Medical University and the National Cancer Institute. Under his supervision, seven candidate dissertations and one doctoral dissertation have been defended.

He is a full member of the European Association of Thoracic Surgeons. He participates in annual international scientific conferences and publishes in international journals. He has 155 published works, is co-author of 1 textbook, and has received 9 patents for inventions related to organ-preserving surgery for lung and esophageal tumors.

He performs surgical interventions on the esophagus, trachea, bronchi, mediastinal organs, lungs, chest wall, diaphragm, stomach, and thyroid gland.

Galina Oleksiyivna Vakulenko

Graduated from the Kyiv Medical Institute with a degree in medicine in 1971. From 1971 to 1974, she worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist at Clinical Hospital No. 8 in Kyiv. From 1974, she completed her clinical residency, then her postgraduate studies in oncology at the Kyiv Research Institute of X-ray Radiology and Oncology. In 1979, she defended her thesis in oncology: “Diagnosis and control of the treatment of chorionepithelioma of the uterus.”

Since 1979, she has worked at the Department of Oncology as an assistant, and since 2003, after defending her doctoral dissertation on “Etiopathogenetic Approach to the Treatment of Early Forms of Cervical Cancer” in the field of oncology, she was selected through a competition and worked as an associate professor in the Department of Oncology. Since 2006, she has been working as a professor in the Department of Oncology. She has more than 170 scientific works, 4 certificates for inventions and 4 certificates for rationalization proposals, co-author of 2 monographs and 3 textbooks (one of them in English), 4 manuals.

His research focuses on developing methods for preventing cervical cancer and introducing pathogenetically sound methods of organ-preserving treatment of cervical cancer in young women into clinical practice, as well as monitoring cervical cancer in pregnant women. Performs highly complex surgical procedures and introduces modern surgical methods into clinical practice. He lectures and conducts practical classes with 5th and 6th year students at a high scientific and methodological level. He is an experienced teacher and specialist, proficient in modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Successfully passes on his experience to the younger generation of oncologists and students. Works with student club members. Has the highest qualification category in the specialty of “oncology,” 42 years of experience as a surgeon, and more than 30 years of scientific and teaching experience. 

 

 

Valery Chesuk

Professor of the Department of Oncology (part-time), Doctor of Medical Sciences.

He has been working at the Bogomolets National Medical University since 1991, initially as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy, then as an assistant since 1990, and in 1993 he defended his candidate’s dissertation. He began working at the Department of Oncology of the NMU in 1994 as an assistant, and then in 1996 as an associate professor of the department. From 2001 to 2003, he served as head of the Department of Oncology of the NMU. In 2004, he defended his doctoral dissertation on “Individualization of comprehensive treatment of patients with stage I-II breast cancer.” From 2014 to 2016 , he served as Chief Freelance Oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Since 2016, he has been the dean of the Faculty of Advanced Training for Teachers at the Institute of Postgraduate Education of the NMU. Since 2018, he has been the head of the Educational and Scientific Center for Continuing Professional Education at the IPE NMU, and is currently a professor at the NSSCOPE. Author of over 245 scientific works, including 21 patents, 8 manuals, and 2 textbooks on oncology. Oncologist of the highest category. Currently works part-time at the Department of Oncology. Chairman of the Advisory and Expert Group of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine “Oncology. Diagnostic and Radiopharmaceuticals.” Member of the specialized council for the defense of dissertations in the specialty “Oncology,” member of the editorial board of the journals “Oncology” and “Experimental Oncology.” Member of international oncology associations: the European Union of Medical Oncologists and the European Association of Surgical Oncologists. The main areas of work are the comprehensive treatment of patients with breast cancer, skin melanoma, soft tissue sarcomas, and the development and widespread implementation of reconstructive and plastic surgery in patients with breast diseases. He regularly improves his professional level by participating in scientific congresses, conferences, and forums (St. Gallen 2005, 2021, Istanbul 2006, 2018, Munich 2008, 2010, Madrid 2009, Vienna 2016, Düsseldorf 2018, 2021, Antwerp 2024, Gothenburg 2025). He has trained a candidate of medical sciences, a doctor of philosophy, and is currently training two doctors of philosophy and one doctor of medical sciences in doctoral studies.

 

 

 

Zotov Alexey Sergeevich

Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor. Doctor of the highest qualification category in the specialties of oncology and oncological surgery. Member of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the European Society for Surgical Oncology (ESSO), and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Author of 142 published scientific papers in leading domestic and foreign scientific journals, 6 patents for inventions and utility models, 8 textbooks, manuals, and monographs, co-author of 3 textbooks. He is the editor-in-chief of the journal Practical Oncology and moderator of the scientific and educational platform Ukraine OncoGlobal. He is a laureate of the International Academic Rating of Popularity “Golden Fortune” of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the nomination “For a significant contribution to the development of Ukraine and high professionalism.”  In 2017, he completed a training course in pharmacoeconomics at Utrecht University (Netherlands), and in 2025, he completed a clinical internship program in breast cancer at the MD Anderson Cancer Center (Madrid, Spain). He is a regular speaker at domestic and European scientific and practical forums. In 2017-2020, he was a member of the Expert Committee on the Selection and Use of Essential Medicines of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Member of the working group of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on the creation of a unified national protocol and standard of medical care for breast cancer. Holds a valid GCP certificate. Has 30 years of scientific and teaching experience.

Vitaliy Volodymyrovych Zaychuk

Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Bogomolets National Medical University in 1998. From August 1998 to June 1999, he completed his internship at the Shupyk Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, specializing in oncology. Since 1999, he has been working at the Department of Oncology of the Bogomolets National Medical University. In 2005, he defended his thesis “The use of antitumor autovaccine in the complex treatment of patients with breast cancer” and was awarded the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences. In October 2015, he was transferred to the position of associate professor at the Department of Oncology, where he currently works. He is the author and co-author of 136 scientific papers (including 8 in English), 4 textbooks, 7 manuals (1 in English), and 22 Ukrainian patents for inventions. He regularly participates in domestic and international scientific and practical conferences, congresses, and forums, improving his professional level. In 2018 and 2019, he completed an internship in Düsseldorf (Germany). He is a member of the international oncology associations ESSO and ESMO. He has the highest qualification category in the specialty of “Oncosurgery” and specializations in “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” and “Oncology.”       The main focus of his scientific and medical activities is an individual approach and oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery in the treatment of patients with benign and malignant tumors of the breast, skin, soft tissues, and lymph nodes. Larysa V. Gryvkova

Doctor of the highest qualification category in the specialties of “oncology” and “oncological surgery,” candidate of medical sciences, assistant professor at the Department of Oncology at Bogomolets National Medical University.

She graduated from the Bogomolets National Medical University, completed her internship in surgical oncology, and studied clinical oncology at the Department of Oncology of the Bogomolets National Medical University. In 1995, she was appointed assistant professor at the Department of Oncology at Bogomolets National Medical University. In 1997, she defended her thesis on “Comprehensive treatment of disseminated forms of malignant skin melanoma.” She regularly participates in domestic and international scientific and practical conferences, congresses, and forums, improving her professional level. In 2022, she completed an internship in Bialystok (Poland).

She is the author of over 40 scientific papers and co-author of 3 textbooks, 7 teaching aids, manuals, and monographs, as well as 1 Ukrainian patent for an invention. Assistant Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences. Oncologist, plastic surgeon, ultrasound diagnostician. Motuzyuk I.M. is a member of the All-Ukrainian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He has the highest qualification category in the specialty of “oncological surgery.” He has 24 years of experience in the specialty of “oncological surgery.” He has 21 years of scientific and pedagogical experience. He graduated from the Bogomolets National Medical University in 2001. Since 2002, he has worked as a resident physician in the surgical department of the Kyiv City Oncology Hospital. Sidorchuk Oleg Ihorovych

Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences, PhD, Associate Professor. Senior oncological surgeon. Graduated from the Medical Faculty of Chernivtsi State Medical Institute in 1989. From 1989 to 1994, he worked as a surgeon in the proctology department, and from 1994 to 1999 – in the surgical department of the Kyiv City Oncology Hospital. From 1999 to 2015, he worked as an assistant professor in the department. In 2015, he was elected associate professor of the department. In 2006, he defended his thesis “The use of oxidants in the surgical treatment of breast cancer patients.” He is responsible for medical and preventive work at the department. For his contributions to the national and patriotic education of young people, he was awarded the “Golden Cross of St. Vladimir on a Block.” He is actively engaged in scientific work and participates in scientific conferences and congresses on oncology. From 1992 to 1997, he studied at Bogomolets National Medical University, specializing in medicine. From 1999 to 2005, he worked as a surgeon at the City Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Kyiv. Since 2005, he has been working as the head of the surgical department of the Kyiv Clinical Hospital No. 3. In 2004, he defended his thesis on “Experimental and clinical justification of plastic-adhesive methods for the prevention of common bile duct suture failure” in the specialty 14.01.03 – surgery. Piskorsky Alexander Alexandrovich

Graduated from M.I. Pirogov National Medical University in 2014, medical practice. From 2014 to 2016, he studied at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University, specializing in clinical oncology. Kostiuchenko Yevgeniy Viktorovich 

PhD, surgeon-oncologist, oncologist, ultrasound diagnostician, senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Oncology. Born in 1993. In 2016, he graduated from the Medical Faculty No. 1 of the Bogomolets National Medical University and continued to work at the Department of Oncology. In 2023, he defended his thesis on “Surgical treatment of patients with hereditary breast cancer” and received a PhD in Health Care, specializing in Medicine, diploma H24 No. 000253 dated 10.01.2024. His scientific interests are related to the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast pathology. He has over 150 certificates, diplomas, and diplomas from various scientific conferences and congresses, 47 of which are foreign. He is a laureate of the Award of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the Association of Medical University Employees of Ukraine. Scholarship holder of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s Zavtra.UA program (2015). Senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Oncology. Surgeon-oncologist, clinical oncologist, general surgeon, ultrasound diagnostics doctor. Graduated from Bogomolets National Medical University in 2000 with a degree in Medicine. From 2000 to 2002, he completed his internship at the Kyiv Regional Oncology Dispensary. In 2002, he received a certificate in surgery, and in 2004, he specialized in oncological surgery at the Department of Oncology of the P.L. Shupik Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. He worked in the surgical department of the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 3 in Kyiv. Since 2022, he has been working as a surgeon-oncologist at the Brovary Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital. In 2023, he obtained a certificate of specialist in clinical oncology at the Department of Oncology of the P.L. Shupik National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, and in 2025, a certificate of doctor of ultrasound diagnostics. Since September 2025, he has been a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Oncology of the Bogomolets National Medical University. His main area of practical activity is oncological diseases of the abdominal cavity, mammary gland, and skin.
