Frank Alina
Senior Laboratory Assistant at the Department of Oncology and Surgeon at the University Clinic of Bogomolets National Medical University.
She graduated from Medical Faculty No. 1 of Bogomolets National Medical University in 2022.
From 2022 to 2025, she completed internship training in Surgery. Since 2025, she has worked as a Surgeon in the Department of Surgical Diseases at the University Clinic of Bogomolets National Medical University.
In 2025, she enrolled in postgraduate studies in specialty I2 Medicine. She is currently conducting dissertation research entitled “Identification of Predictors of Early Recurrence in Patients with Stage II Colorectal Cancer Based on Tumour DNA Sequencing.”
Since 2026, she has worked as a Senior Laboratory Assistant at the Department of Oncology.


Burlaka Anton
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Surgical Oncologist, Head of the Department of Oncology at Bogomolets National Medical University since 2025.
Born in 1985, Anton Anatoliiovych Burlaka graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Bogomolets National Medical University in 2008. He began his scientific career during his student years. In 2010, he graduated with honours from the Master’s programme in Clinical Oncology and continued his research activities at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University.
In 2015, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences, after which he was appointed Senior Research Fellow at the National Cancer Institute. In 2021, he defended his doctoral dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences, devoted to metabolic and stromal predictors of metastatic colorectal cancer with liver involvement.
Over the years, he has held various clinical and academic positions, including Assistant at the Department of Surgery of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Head of the Department of Liver and Pancreatic Tumours and Oncovascular Surgery at the National Cancer Institute. Since 2022, he has served as Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Bogomolets National Medical University. Since 2025, he has served as Head of the Department of Oncology at Bogomolets National Medical University.
His scientific interests focus on the surgical treatment of malignant neoplasms of the digestive system, particularly colorectal cancer and metastatic liver disease, as well as the implementation of organ-preserving and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
He is the author of more than 200 scientific publications, including papers indexed in the international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science.
He has completed professional training at leading European medical centres, including Heidelberg University Hospital, the European School of Surgical Ultrasonography in Milan, Italy, and IRCAD in France. He is a member of the editorial boards of peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Since 2024, he has been involved in the postgraduate training of physicians through specialization programmes in Surgical Oncology.

Vereshchako Roman
Professor at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences.
He graduated from medical school in 1985. In 1991–1992, he completed clinical residency training at the Department of Pulmonology of the P.L. Shupyk Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. After completing his residency, he worked at the Adult Thoracic Surgery Department of Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 17, where he was actively involved in both clinical practice and scientific research.
In 1999, as an external candidate, he completed and successfully defended his Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertation entitled “Reconstructive Surgery for Lung Cancer.”
Since 1999, he has held the highest professional qualification category in Thoracic Surgery. He has also completed advanced professional training in Surgical Oncology and Oncology.
In 2008, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Treatment of Cicatricial Esophageal Stenosis.”
From 2010, he worked as an Assistant at the Department of Surgery No. 4 of Bogomolets National Medical University, and from 2011 to 2014 as an Associate Professor. In 2021, he was awarded the academic title of Professor.
From 2014 to 2025, Professor Vereshchako served as Head of the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University.
He is a member of the Specialized Academic Councils for the defence of doctoral dissertations at Bogomolets National Medical University and the National Cancer Institute. Under his supervision, seven Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertations and one Doctor of Medical Sciences dissertation have been successfully defended.
He is a full member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He has completed professional training in thoracic surgical oncology in Vienna, Austria, and Boston, USA. He is a member of the editorial board of a peer-reviewed scientific journal indexed in Scopus, regularly participates in international scientific conferences, and publishes in international journals.
Professor Vereshchako is the author of 155 scientific publications, co-author of one textbook, and holder of nine patents for inventions related to organ-preserving surgical procedures for lung and oesophageal tumours.
His clinical expertise includes surgical procedures involving the oesophagus, trachea, bronchi, mediastinal organs, lungs, chest wall, diaphragm, stomach, and thyroid gland.

Vakulenko Halyna
Professor at the Department of Oncology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, specialist in Oncology.
Halyna Oleksiivna Vakulenko graduated from the Kyiv Medical Institute in 1971 with a degree in Medicine. From 1971 to 1974, she worked as an obstetrician-gynaecologist at Kyiv Clinical Hospital No. 8.
In 1974, she began clinical residency training and subsequently postgraduate studies in Oncology at the Kyiv Research Institute of X-ray Radiology and Oncology. In 1979, she defended her Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertation in Oncology entitled “Diagnosis and Monitoring of Treatment of Uterine Choriocarcinoma.”
In 1979, she joined the Department of Oncology as an Assistant. In 2001, she defended her doctoral dissertation in Oncology entitled “An Etiopathogenetic Approach to the Treatment of Early-Stage Cervical Cancer” and was subsequently appointed Associate Professor at the Department of Oncology. Since 2006, she has served as Professor at the Department of Oncology.
She is the author of more than 179 scientific publications and holds four certificates of invention and four certificates for rationalization proposals. She is also a co-author of two monographs, three textbooks, including one published in English, and four educational manuals.
Her main research interests include the development of methods for cervical cancer prevention, the implementation of pathogenetically based organ-preserving approaches to the treatment of cervical cancer in young women, and the monitoring and management of cervical cancer during pregnancy.
Her clinical expertise includes complex oncological surgery and the implementation of contemporary surgical techniques in clinical practice. She has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cancer.
Professor Vakulenko has many years of experience in medical education. She lectures and conducts practical classes for fifth- and sixth-year medical students and is actively involved in mentoring students and the next generation of oncologists, including students participating in the Department’s scientific research group.
She holds the highest professional qualification category in Oncology. Her professional experience includes 42 years of surgical practice and more than 30 years of academic and teaching experience.

Cheshuk Valerii
Professor at the Department of Oncology on a part-time basis, Doctor of Medical Sciences.
He has worked at Bogomolets National Medical University since 1991, initially at the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy as a Senior Laboratory Assistant and subsequently as an Assistant. In 1993, he successfully defended his Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertation.
In 1994, he joined the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University as an Assistant and, in 1996, was appointed Associate Professor. From 2001 to 2003, he served as Acting Head of the Department of Oncology. In 2004, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Individualization of Comprehensive Treatment of Patients with Stage I–II Breast Cancer.”
From 2014 to 2016, he served as Chief External Oncology Specialist of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. In 2016, he became Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Training for Academic Staff at the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Bogomolets National Medical University. From 2018, he headed the Educational and Scientific Centre for Continuing Professional Education of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and currently serves as Professor at the Centre. He also continues to work at the Department of Oncology on a part-time basis.
Professor Cheshuk is the author of more than 245 scientific publications, including 21 patents, eight educational manuals, and two textbooks on oncology. He holds the highest professional qualification category in Surgical Oncology.
He serves as Chair of the Consultative and Expert Group of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine “Oncology. Diagnostic and Radiopharmaceutical Products.” He is a member of the Specialized Academic Council for the defence of dissertations in Oncology and a member of the editorial boards of the journals Oncology and Experimental Oncology. He is also a member of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO).
His main areas of clinical and scientific expertise include the comprehensive treatment of breast cancer, cutaneous melanoma, and soft tissue sarcomas, as well as the development and implementation of reconstructive and plastic surgical techniques for patients with breast diseases.
He regularly advances his professional expertise through participation in international scientific congresses, conferences, and professional forums, including events held in St. Gallen (2005, 2021), Istanbul (2006, 2018), Munich (2008, 2010), Madrid (2009), Vienna (2016), Düsseldorf (2018, 2021), Antwerp (2024), and Gothenburg (2025).
Under his academic supervision, one Candidate of Medical Sciences and one Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) have successfully completed their degrees. He currently supervises two PhD candidates and one doctoral researcher pursuing the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

Zotov Oleksii
Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Oncology. Physician holding the highest professional qualification category in Oncology and Surgical Oncology.
He is a member of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
He is the author of 142 scientific publications in leading Ukrainian and international scientific journals, six patents for inventions and utility models, and eight educational manuals, clinical guides, and monographs, and is a co-author of three textbooks. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Practical Oncology and moderator of the scientific and educational platform Ukraine OncoGlobal.
He is a laureate of the International Academic Rating of Popularity “Golden Fortune” of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the category “For Significant Contribution to the Development of Ukraine and High Professionalism.”
He is a member of the expert group of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the field of Oncology Care, as well as the expert group of the Department of Health of the Kyiv City State Administration in Clinical Oncology (General Surgical Oncology and Oncohaematology). From 2017 to 2020, he served as a member of the Expert Committee on the Selection and Use of Essential Medicines of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. In 2017, he completed training in pharmacoeconomics at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. In 2025, he participated in a clinical training programme in Breast Cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Madrid, Spain.

Lobanova Olha

She has more than 20 years of clinical experience in oncology and surgical oncology. Her main areas of clinical practice include the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of breast cancer, melanoma and other malignant skin tumours, soft tissue and lymph node malignancies, as well as surgical oncology, oncoplastic surgery, and reconstructive surgery.
In 2009, she defended her Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertation focused on the individualisation of treatment for patients with breast cancer based on clinical, morphological, and molecular biological factors.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Chernivtsi State Medical Institute in 1989. From 1989 to 1994, he worked as a surgeon in the Proctology Department, and from 1994 to 1999 in the Surgical Department of the Kyiv City Oncology Hospital.
From 1999 to 2015, he worked as an Assistant at the Department of Oncology. In 2015, he was appointed Associate Professor at the Department of Oncology. In 2006, he defended his Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertation entitled “The Use of Oxidising Agents During the Surgical Treatment of Patients with Breast Cancer.”
He is responsible for coordinating the Department’s clinical and preventive activities.

Piskorskyi Oleksandr

He graduated from National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsia in 2014 with a degree in Medicine.
From 2014 to 2016, he completed internship training in Clinical Oncology at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University. In 2016, he obtained specialist qualification in Surgical Oncology at the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. From August 2016 to July 2018, he completed clinical residency training at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University.
Since September 2018, he has worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University. In parallel, he works as a Surgical Oncologist at one of the Department’s clinical bases, Kyiv Clinical Hospital on Railway Transport No. 3.
He has completed a number of international and national professional training programmes and courses. In April 2017, he undertook training at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Otto Wagner Hospital, Vienna, within an ESTS programme focused on the management of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), mesothelioma, typical and atypical carcinoid tumours, and technical aspects of VATS lobectomy. Kostiuchenko Yevgeniy Viktorovich
PhD, surgeon-oncologist, oncologist, ultrasound diagnostician, senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Oncology. Born in 1993. In 2016, he graduated from the Medical Faculty No. 1 of the Bogomolets National Medical University and continued to work at the Department of Oncology. In 2023, he defended his thesis on “Surgical treatment of patients with hereditary breast cancer” and received a PhD in Health Care, specializing in Medicine, diploma H24 No. 000253 dated 10.01.2024. His scientific interests are related to the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast pathology. He has over 150 certificates, diplomas, and diplomas from various scientific conferences and congresses, 47 of which are foreign. Denis Mnushkin
Senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Oncology. Surgeon-oncologist, clinical oncologist, general surgeon, ultrasound diagnostics doctor. Graduated from Bogomolets National Medical University in 2000 with a degree in Medicine. From 2000 to 2002, he completed his internship at the Kyiv Regional Oncology Dispensary. In 2002, he received a certificate in surgery, and in 2004, he specialized in oncological surgery at the Department of Oncology of the P.L. Shupik Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. He worked in the surgical department of the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 3 in Kyiv. Since 2022, he has been working as a surgeon-oncologist at the Brovary Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital. In 2023, he obtained a certificate of specialist in clinical oncology at the Department of Oncology of the P.L. Shupik National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, and in 2025, a certificate of doctor of ultrasound diagnostics. Makhmudov Dmytro

He graduated with honours from Bogomolets National Medical University in 2010.
From 2010 to 2012, he completed internship and Master’s training in Clinical Oncology at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University and at the Department of Abdominal and Retroperitoneal Tumours of the National Cancer Institute. In 2015–2016, he completed specialist training in Surgical Oncology.
Since 2015, he has worked as a Surgical Oncologist at the Department of Oncological Coloproctology of the National Cancer Institute.
He has more than 15 years of professional experience. His main areas of clinical practice include the surgical treatment of colorectal cancer, abdominal and retroperitoneal tumours, as well as contemporary approaches to the treatment of patients with colon and rectal cancer.
In 2016, he successfully defended his dissertation and was awarded the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences in Oncology.
Since 2026, he has served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University.
His scientific interests include colorectal cancer surgery, neoadjuvant and multimodal treatment of rectal cancer, the quality of total mesorectal excision (TME), surgical treatment of colorectal cancer metastases, nutritional support, and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS).

He graduated from Bogomolets National Medical University in 2022 with a degree in Medicine. From 2022 to 2025, he completed internship training in Surgery at the National Cancer Institute.

He has more than 23 years of professional experience. Zemskova Oksana
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Senior Researcher, Radiation Oncologist, Head of the Department of Radiation Therapy at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Professor at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University, and, since 2026, Principal Research Fellow at the Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
She was born in 1976 and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Bogomolets National Medical University in 1999. She began her professional career in surgery, completing an internship in General Surgery and working as a surgeon at Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 1 until 2005.
In May 2005, she joined the Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, initially working as a radiologist in the low-field MRI unit.
In 2016, she defended her Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertation entitled “Radiosurgical Treatment of Vestibular Schwannomas and Neuroimaging Assessment of Its Effectiveness.” In 2024, she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Optimisation of Comprehensive Treatment of Patients with Glioblastoma Using Hypofractionated Radiation Therapy.”

At the Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute, she has worked as a radiologist, radiation oncologist, clinical oncologist, and research fellow, and has served as Acting Head of the Department of Adjuvant Treatment Methods for Central Nervous System Tumours.
Since May 2026, she has served as Head of the Department of Radiation Therapy at Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital, Professor at the Department of Oncology of Bogomolets National Medical University, and Principal Research Fellow at the Department of Integrated Neuro-Oncology and Radioneurosurgery of the Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute.
Her scientific interests focus on neuro-oncology, precision radiation oncology, individual radiosensitivity, and targeted therapy for central nervous system tumours. She is actively involved in the clinical implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning in neuroradiology, as well as in translational neuro-oncology research.
