Department of Philosophy and Sociology of Bogomolets National Medical University, headed by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Iryna Vasylieva, was established in 2008. Gurgen Yezikian, Ph.D. in History organized the work of the department Students Scientific Group

In 2010, separate section “Social and humanitarian disciplines” headed by Oksana V. Romaniuk was created on the initiative of the head of the department, on the basis of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology and at the “Ukrainian Scientific Medical Youth Journal” (O.O. Bogomolets NMU).

Main areas of student’s scientific researches:

 

– research of integrative links between the social sciences and humanities;

– philosophy of religion and medicine in the post-secular era;

– health and healthy lifestyle;

– problematic aspects of the health care system;

– a human in a globalized computerized space;

– higher medical education.

Since 2015 Ph.D. in Philosophy, Associate Professor Oksana Romaniuk has been responsible for SSG work. Over the period from 2010 to 2017, more than 150 student research studies were conducted (including the researches of the Junior Academy of Sciences and the All-Ukrainian Student Research Competition), of which about 120 were published.

Members of SSG actively participate in conferences held in other cities (Kharkiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Dnipro, etc.) and other universities in Kyiv (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv Medical University, Interregional Academy of Personnel Mnagement, etc.).

The activists of SSG carry out educational work in the Lyceum of Politics, Economics, Law and Foreign Languages (LPELFL) (Kyiv, Shevchenkivskyi district), giving lectures on disease prevention, advocacy for vaccination and taking part in “Heart-to-heart” volunteer activities, smoking and drug abuse prevention, “Youth to the ATO Soldiers” and others.
