Mastering practical skills by students of the English-language program at the Department of Pediatrics No. 2

One of the most important stages in the professional training of future doctors and an important niche in the formation of professional skills and the acquisition of medical skills is the effective system of practical training for higher education students at the Bogomolets National Medical University. At the clinical base of the Department of Pediatrics No. 2, headed by Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Volosovets O.P., at the Kyiv City Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 2, the largest children’s clinic on the left bank of the capital, additional classes were organized for students to master the necessary practical competencies in pediatrics in English.

Under the guidance of experienced teachers, students had the opportunity to participate in the care of young patients with allergic, cardiological, gastroenterological, and bronchopulmonary diseases. Future doctors acquired skills in conducting and interpreting laboratory and instrumental research methods, communicating with patients and their parents. Higher education students took an active part in discussing clinical cases of real patients and communicating with medical staff.

Such classes are very useful because they help to develop students’ practical professional competence, familiarize them with the field of activity, prepare them to solve diverse professional tasks, bring learning closer to life, and develop students’ independence and individual abilities.
