The main directions of scientific and practical work

  • Minimally invasive organ-sparing surgery for gastric and duodenal ulcers, traumatic injuries to the spleen, pancreas, biliary system, acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, portal hypertension syndrome.
  • Under the scientific supervision of Prof. Kolosovich I.V., one doctoral and four candidate dissertations have been defended, and a dissertation for the PhD degree is being completed.
  • Delegate to numerous international forums in Europe, Asia, and North America, trained in the latest surgical technologies in leading clinics in the European Union (Czech Republic, Spain, Austria, Germany).

BEZRODNYI BORYS HAVRYLOVYCH Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor

In 1972 he graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Kyiv Medical Institute, in 1979 – clinical residency at the Department of Hospital Surgery of the National Medical University, surgeon of the highest category, Doctor of Medical Sciences (1995), Professor (2005). The topic of his doctoral dissertation is “Surgical treatment of patients with cancer of the pancreas and major duodenal papilla”, Head of the Department of Surgery No. 2 from 2006-2020, Professor of the Department since 2021.

The main areas of scientific activity are the development of issues of surgical treatment of diseases of the hepatopancreatoduodenal zone, peptic ulcer disease, chronic venous insufficiency of the lower extremities, human stem cell transplantation for surgical diseases, emergency surgery, surgical treatment of wounds, etc. He is the author of the technology for the use of Krebs cycle substrates in the treatment of liver failure in patients with obstructive jaundice (1976); the author of the surgical technology for the treatment of patients with pancreatic cancer using original methods of organ resection and transplantation of human stem cells to correct the myelotoxic effects of chemotherapy (1993, 1995); for the first time in surgical practice, he showed the feasibility of using interferons as part of adjuvant chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer (1993); developed the technology for the surgical treatment of chronic venous insufficiency of the lower extremities in varicose and post-thrombotic diseases (2004); developed the technology for the surgical treatment of lower limb wounds by transplanting skin flaps and human stem cells (2015, 2020); developed the tactics of using minimally invasive surgical technologies in the treatment of obstructive jaundice of malignant genesis (2024).

Implementation into clinical practice

  • Scientific developments have been implemented into the medical practice of surgical departments of Kyiv and Kyiv region, Zhytomyr and Zhytomyr region, Chernihiv and Chernihiv region, and have also been included in lecture courses and curricula of the Department of Surgery No. 2 of the O.O. Teplyi Valerii Vitaliiovych

Professor, graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute in 1981.

He has undergone a clinical residency in the speciality “Surgery” at the Kyiv Research Institute for Clinical and Experimental Surgery (now the Research Institute for Surgery and Transplantology). In 1988 under the supervision of acad. O.O. Shalimov he defended the thesis for PhD Degree: “Comparative estimation of methods of gastroesophageal collateral venous blood flow interruption in treatment of bleedings due to portal hypertension syndrome”.

In 2013 he defended the thesis on the doctor of medical science degree on the topic: “Surgical correction of the trunk cosmetic defects with restoration of aesthetic, functional and metabolic parameters”.

In 2004 he attended the 5th Heidelberg Symposium Live-Operation-Course for Plastic surgery.

In the period from 17.01.2018 to 26.01.2018 he completed practical training at the Second Department and Clinic of General and Oncological Surgery of Wroclaw Medical University

He took part in Seminar on Health care management in Pullach, Germany in October 2019.

Kopyov Yuriy Oleksiiovych

(born 05.23.1950), PhD in Medical Sciencies (1984). Graduated from Bogomolets Kyiv Medical Institute in 1973. In 1984 he passed dessertation defence on “The impact of surgical treatment of acute cholecystitis on the endocrine function of the pancreas.” Associate Professor, Department of Surgery № 2 (1990). Author of 108 scientific studies, 6 state patents of Ukraine. Engaged in issues of endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of patients with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

IVANOV MYKOLA ANDRIIOVYCH

Honored Doctor of Ukraine, PhD (Candidate of Medical Sciences), Associate Professor

M.A. Ivanov graduated from the Bogomolets Kyiv Medical Institute in 1979 with the diploma with honours. From 1979 to 1986 he studied in clinical residency and postgraduate studies at the Department of General Surgery of the above-mentioned institute. From 1986 to 1990 – assistant professor of the Pediatric Surgery Department, in 1990-1998 – assistant professor of the Hospital Surgery Department (since 2008 – Department of Surgery # 2), since 1998 – associate professor of the Department of Surgery # 2 of the Bogomolets National Medical University. In 1986he defended his thesis “Comparative characteristics of methods of surgical treatment of lactating mastitis”. The academic title of: “Associate Professor” was awarded to him in 2000. M. Ivanov has the highest qualification category in surgery. He is responsible for educational work at the department.

Author of 49 scientific works, including manuals for students, has 2 certificates on inventions. He is engaged in the study of general and hepatobiliary surgery.

Anatolii Moiseienko

graduated with honors from the Bogomolets National Medical University in 2002. From 2002 to 2004 studied in internship and master’s degree in surgery at the Department of Hospital Surgery №1, Bogomolets National Medical University, from 2004 to 2007 studied in full-time postgraduate study at the same department. Since 2007  – assistant of the Department of Surgery №2, Bogomolets National Medical University. Research Topic: “Diagnosis and surgical treatment of acute bowel obstruction”. Author of 47 published scientific works, 2 of them in foreign editions, 15 patents of Ukraine for inventions and utility models.  The priority direction of scientific and surgical activity – laparoscopic technologies in planned and urgent surgery. PETRENKO OLEG

Graduated from Vinnitsa Medical Institute in 1993 year. Since 1993 to 2010 years was working as a surgeon in the different clinics of Ukraine. Defended the scientific work “Surgical treatment the complications of varicose diseases” in 2009 year. He has been working in Bogomolets National Medical University since 2010 year. Main direction is wound healing and plastic surgery the defects of soft tissue and skin and phlebology. He defended the scientific work  “Surgery treatment of purulent wound of lower extremities” in 2021 year. Author of 7 publications,  12 guidelines, 9 patents and 1 monography. Tsyhanok Andrii M.

Associate Professor, graduated from the Bogomolets  National Medical University in  2001.

From 2003 to 2006 he studied at the postgraduate course at the Department of Hospital Surgery # 1 of the Bogomolets  National Medical University.  In 2007 he defended his PhD thesis on “Minimally invasive surgery in patients with acute cholecystitis”. In January 2018, he completed an internship at Wroclaw Medical University at the Department of Surgery and Oncology # 2.

He is engaged in the study of  laparoscopic surgery, ultrasound diagnostics of pathology of abdominal organs.

HANOL IHOR, doctor of medical sciences, associate professor

 

born in 1976, in 2000 he graduated with honors from Bogomolets National Medical University, after which he studied internship at the Department of Surgery No. 2. In 2002 he worked as a surgeon at the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 4, and then as a consultant surgeon at the Central Hospital of Misurata (Libya, 2002-2004). In 2004-2010 – resident of the 1st surgical department of the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 4. In 2010-2021 – assistant professor of the Department of Surgery No. 2 of Bogomolets National Medical University. Since September 2021 – associate professor of the Department of Surgery No. 2 of Bogomolets National Medical University.

In 2011, he defended his candidate’s thesis on the topic “Organ-preserving spleen surgery in traumatic organ injuries”, in 2025 – his doctoral thesis on the topic “Pathogenetic justification of surgical treatment of patients with acute pancreatitis”, the academic title of “Associate Professor” was awarded in June 2021.

Author and co-author of 106 printed works, including 9 textbooks under the seal of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, 11 patents of Ukraine for invention and utility model. From 2014 to 2017 studied in internship and master’s degree in surgery department nr. 2, Bogomolets National Medical University. Received a Master degree in surgeon.

From 2017 to 2020 studied in full-time postgraduate study. Defended the thesis on the PhD science degree. Thesis Title: «Improvement of surgical treatment technology of uncomplicated forms varicose veins of the lower extremities».

Lissov Oleksiy Ihorovych – Associate Professor, born in 1969, graduated from the II Medical Faculty of the Kiev Medical Institute in 1992. From August 1992 to August 1993 – worked as a research scientist at the Department of Congenital Heart Defects at the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. From September 1993 to 1995, he worked as an assistant – intern at the Department of Faculty Surgery No. 2 of the O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University, based on the KMKL No. 12, where from 1995 to 2020 he worked as an assistant at the department. Since 2020, he has been working as an associate professor at the department. In 2014, as part of the team of authors of the Department of Surgery № 3, he was awarded the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Award for his work “Modern mini-invasive endoscopic and surgical technologies for the treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding”. For the last 13 years, he has been actively implementing the ACS system, the electronic dean’s office is responsible for the formation of the department’s website, during quarantine in 2020, he actively implemented the LIKAR-based distance learning system. He has a specialization as a proctologist surgeon. He is constantly improving his level in modern approaches to the surgical treatment of hemorrhoids – he studied at the courses “Modern methods of treating hemorrhoids” in the proctology department of the regional hospital (2008) and received a certificate for mastering transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization (THD), in 2013 he attended a master class in Rome to improve this technique.

Academic Career: In 2005, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine No. 1 of Bogomolets National Medical University (NMU). By distribution, he completed his internship in “Surgery” (2005-2008) and part-time postgraduate studies (PhD program) in “Surgery” (2010-2014). He served as a Senior Laboratory Assistant (2005-2012) and Assistant Professor (2012-2025) at the Department of Surgery No. 3.

Scientific Degree: Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD) (2020). Dissertation topic: “Comparative evaluation of long-term results of minimally invasive and open surgical methods for the treatment of esophageal achalasia.”

Additional Education: Master’s degree in “Public Management and Administration” (2024).

Academic Title: Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery (2025).

Biliakov-Bielskii Olexandr Boryovych, PhD, Associate Professor

Biliakov-Bielskii Olexandr Boryovych, born in 1948, graduated from the Kyiv Medical Institute in 1975 with honours.

From 1975 to 1976, he studied surgery at the Kyiv Medical Institute.

In 1985 he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences on the topic: ‘Acute gastric bleeding of cancerous origin.’

Since 1986, he has been working at the department, first as an assistant, and since 2001 as an associate professor of the Department of Surgery No. 3.

From 1975 to 1977, he worked as a surgeon at the KNDIRRO, and from 1978 to 1986, at Clinical Hospitals No. 15 and No. 12 in Kyiv. He has the highest qualification category. He performs medical and consulting work in full. He enjoys well-deserved authority and respect among both patients and colleagues. He is proficient in modern methods of diagnosis and treatment.

In 2009, he was awarded the Certificate of Honour of the Ministry of Health. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in the scientific work of the department.

He has 50 years of medical experience and 40 years of scientific and teaching experience.

Biliakov-Bielskii O.B. has 185 scientific works, 1 Ukrainian patent and 3 rationalisation proposals. He has updated and created 24 methodological developments for practical classes and 32 scientific papers. Hirsch index (Scopus) – 1. Hirsch index (Google Scholar) – 3.

Main areas of scientific and practical work

Scientific interests – acute gastrointestinal bleeding of tumour origin, organ-preserving surgery of the gastrointestinal tract, biliary system, purulent surgery. Oleksandr Biliakov-Bielskii is a highly qualified surgeon who is proficient in modern methods of diagnosis and treatment and has the highest qualification category.

His scientific developments have been implemented in the medical practice of surgical departments in Kyiv and Ukraine, and are also included in lecture courses and curricula at the Bogomolets National Medical University for students and teachers.

At the department, he teaches elective courses on emergency vascular surgery, symptoms and syndromes in emergency surgery. He is a member of the university’s KTK and a freelance expert for the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

 

POVCH OLEG ANDRIYOVICH – Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department.

He graduated from the Medical Faculty of Uzhhorod State University in 1992 with honors.  In 1992-94, he studied in clinical residency, and from 1994 to 1997 – in full-time postgraduate studies in surgery at the former Department of Surgery No. 3. From September 1998 to January 2009, he worked as an assistant, and from January 13, 2009, to December 2025, he worked as an associate professor at the Department of Surgery No. 3.

Academic degree: 1999 – defended his thesis on “Surgical tactics for gastric and duodenal ulcers complicated by perforation and bleeding.”

Academic title: Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery (2011).

Medical practice: highest certification category in the specialty of “Surgery.” Performs traditional and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) types of surgical interventions on the abdominal organs. He completed internships at surgical clinics in Boston (2005), Honolulu (2007), Lisbon (2018), and Pattaya (2016, 2019).

Honored Doctor of Ukraine (2010), recipient of the Kyiv City Mayor’s Letter of Appreciation (2005), awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Academic Council of the Bogomolets National Medical University (June 2018). In 2014, as part of a team of authors from the Department of Surgery No. 3, he was awarded the Prize of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for his work “Modern minimally invasive endoscopic and surgical technologies for the treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding.”

Scientific activity and publications: has 136 printed works in scientific journals and other periodical scientific and medical literature, 46 in publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine, and 13 in foreign publications. He is the author of two monographs, three Ukrainian patents for inventions, and one information letter.

 

Viktor Sidorenko, PhD, Associate Professor

Born in 1960, he graduated with honors from the Medical Faculty of the Odessa Medical Institute named after M.I. Pirogov in 1984. After graduating from the institute, he completed his internship at the Odessa Basin Hospital on Water Transport and City Clinical Hospital No. 12 in Kyiv. After completing his internship, he worked as a surgeon at City Clinical Hospital No. 12 in Kyiv. From 1988 to 1990, he worked part-time as an assistant at the Department of Surgery of the Pediatric Faculty of the Kyiv Medical Institute, and in 1990, he was selected through a competition for the position of assistant at the Department of Surgery of the Kyiv Medical Institute. On May 29, 2003, he was selected through a competition to be an associate professor in the Department of Surgery No. 3, where he currently works.

In 2010, he was awarded an Honorary Diploma from the Ministry of Health, and in 2020, he was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Doctor of Ukraine.” Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in the scientific work of the department and in 1994 successfully defended his thesis on the problem of hemorrhagic shock in patients with profuse gastrointestinal bleeding. He has 41 years of medical experience and 38 years of scientific and teaching experience.

Sidorenko V.M. has 132 scientific works, including two Ukrainian patents, one information letter, and is co-author of a monograph, working training programs in surgery for the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and three methodological developments in surgery for students of the Bogomolets National Medical University.
