The Department of Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology and Postgraduate Education was established through the merger of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology № 1 and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Neonatology of Postgraduate Education.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology № 1 is one of the earliest structural units of Bogomolets National Medical University, having been founded in 1841 during the establishment of the University of St Volodymyr. It is closely associated with numerous distinguished Ukrainian physicians and scientists in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, who served as heads, mentors, and alumni of the Department.
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Neonatology of Postgraduate Education was founded on August 1, 2015 and was based at Kyiv City Maternity Hospital № 5. It continues to serve as a center for specialist training in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as a hub for the professional development of physicians in this specialty, providing comprehensive support for education and skills enhancement, and contributing to the improvement of the quality of medical care delivered to women at all stages of life.
Today, the Department of Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology and Postgraduate Education is staffed by a cohesive team that is equally committed to advancing professional expertise, delivering high-quality educational activities, and conducting responsible and rigorous scientific research.
