On February 20, 2023, the Department of Pharmacognosy and Botany of the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted the IV Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation “PLANTA+. SCIENCE, PRACTICE AND EDUCATION” to the 20th anniversary of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Botany of the Bogomolets National Medical University.
In accordance with the conference program, the work was carried out in the form of the publication of materials based on the results of scientific research by Ukrainian scientists and foreign specialists on the issues of phytochemical analysis, standardization of medicinal plant raw materials, introduction, resource science of medicinal plants, manufacturing technology and analysis of herbal medicinal products, dietary supplements, drugs and cosmetics. The conference participants also highlighted current issues of modernizing the educational process and focusing on distance learning in educational institutions.
The proceedings of the conference are published in two volumes: Volume 1 – 260 pages, and Volume 2 – 285 pages.
The conference is being held for the fourth time.
For four years, 1414 domestic participants took part in the conference, 170 of them repeatedly.

For four years, 261 foreign participants from 20 countries (USA, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, Norway, France, Taiwan, etc.) took part in the conference, 32 of them repeatedly.

On 5th april 2017 at the Department of Botany and Pharmacognosy of Pharmaceutical Faculty a scientific student conference in the “Student Scientific Session – April 2017” was held.
Teachers and students of the second, third and fourth years of study gathered to summarize student research work at the department. Dean of the Pharmaceutical Faculty Associate Professor Tatiana Reva made a welcoming speech.
The conference heard reports of 13 students, including 2 English. An independent evaluation reports carried jury in content, outlining, scientific novelty and practical reports and responses to questions from the audience (a 10-point scale). For some students it was the first statement on the results of scientific work, but a lot of guys have had similar experiences, all presented their report at a high scientific level, which caused great interest and many questions. The main topics were presentations covering the diagnostic features of medicinal plants, their diversity, distribution, pharmacognostical research; use in Ukraine and other countries.
For the first time were presented researches of the market of herbal and medicinal plants in their structure, the data from biological testing of complex and monopreparations using human erythrocytes and parameci. An interesting topic was the study of biologically active compounds of mushrooms. This work “Drugs of fungal origin, their characteristics and application” of the 3rd year student Anastasia Tereshkina received the diploma of the first degree. The results of an independent evaluation of second degree diplomas were awarded to: Galatenko Julia (Hemagglutination properties of some herbal remedies), Mirza Kateryna (Phytoteas toxicity bioassay using the method of parameci) and Al-Janabi Hasan (The use of medicinal mushrooms as nutraceuticals and outlook); Third degree: Belyaev Anastasia (Morphological characteristics of individual members of the family Fabaceae, as a source of current or prospective drugs) Dolynska Sofia (Medicinal Plants of the genus Polygala L. flora Ukraine, diversity, diagnostic features, distribution, and use of medicinal properties) and Melnichenko Zoryana (Analysis of the domestic market for herbal medical fees). All participants are awarded certificates and diplomas. Students are asked to continue scientific work started at the Department of Pharmacognosy and botany.
