Yanitska Lesya Vasylivna
Head of the Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, Associate Professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences. In 2000 she graduated from the National Pedagogical University named after M.P. Dragomanova In 2005 successfully defended her Ph.D. in Biology in the speciality 14.01.32.– medical biochemistry. The topic of PhD thesis: «Study of biochemical mechanisms of brain membrane structure damage under the conditions of chloroalkane intoxication and nicotinamide correction». Academic supervisor- corresponding Member of the NAMS of Ukraine, professor Yu. I. Gubskyi. In 2016 she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor of the Bioorganic and Biological Chemistry Department. In total, the scientific and pedagogical experience numbers 21 years. Scientific interests: research of biochemical and molecular genetic processes in complications of diabetes, in particular diabetic neuropathy. Kuchmerovska Tamara Murativna
Professor at higher education institution of the Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, lead researcher of the Palladin Institute of Biochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), Professor, Doctor in biology. In 1971, she graduated from Kyiv State University named after T.G. Shevchenko (now Kyiv National University named after T.G. Shevchenko). In 1986, she defended the PhD thesis on the topic “Study of the features of the interaction of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide with synaptic membranes of the cerebral cortex in the rat brain” in the speciality 03.00.04 – biochemistry, scientific supervisor, professor Halmuradov Askar Ganiyovych, Doctor in Biology. In 1999, she was awarded the scientific title of Senior Research in the speciality 03.00.04 — biochemistry. In 2000, she defended her doctoral thesis on the topic “Biological action of vitamin PP and its derivatives in the nervous system” in the speciality 03.00.04 — biochemistry, scientific supervisor, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Donchenko Georgy Viktorovych, Doctor of Biology, professor. Research activities: Co-author of 318 scientific works, 3 educational and methodological manuals, and 5 patents for a useful model. Author of 8 individual articles. Scientific interests: a significant scientific contribution was made to elucidate the mechanisms of the modulatory action of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) in the neurotransmission processes of key neurotransmitters, mono- and poly-ADP-ribosylation processes in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus (DM) and its complications. Currently, she conducts researches to clarify the molecular mechanisms of vitamin B3 action and its biologically active derivatives in the nervous system, cardiovascular system and in cell cultures using various modulators, including compositions of natural origin components in normal and pathological conditions, mainly complications diabetes of type 1 and type 2 (diabetic neuropathy, cardiomyopathy) with the aim of their correction. An important direction of scientific activity is elucidating the relationship between the processes of poly-ADP-ribosylation and other NAD-dependent processes, in particular at the level of functioning of NAD-dependent histone deacetylases, as well as under the conditions of the development of reactive astrogliosis and disorders of functionally important of the brain proteins and its departments in diabetes mellitus type 1 and 2 in order to prevent their development.

Z.М. Skorobogatova is author and co-author of numerous publications on higher education pedagogy, including co-author of a basic textbook on biochemistry for students of higher pharmaceutical educational institutions. The author of the textbook “Atlas of Metabolic Pathways”, which in 2019 received the Diploma of the winner of the competition for the best book publication of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the nomination “Educational publications in the chemical and biological direction”. In 2019, together with the student group KIVI (O.O. Research activities: Z.М. Skorobogatova is author of more than 80 scientific works, most of which are devoted to the study of the effect of new synthesized compounds on the oxidative modification of proteins and lipids. In a cycle of works consisting of 9 articles published in the specialized journal “Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds” the processes of hydrogen abstraction from heterocyclic analogues of the coenzyme were studied. NADH+H+, which made it possible to consider these reactions as models for biochemical oxidation processes. As a result of these studies, a new aromatization reaction was discovered and investigated by kinetic methods. On the basis of the obtained results, a method of evaluating the antioxidant activity of the synthesized drugs was developed using the determination of the stable TEMPO radical formed in these reactions by the method of electron paramagnetic resonance. These works are protected by six copyright certificates.
