SOLEMN OPENING OF VOLODYMYR YURYCHKO MEMORIAL PLAQUE

The solemn and unique event due to its spiritual filling took place on 3, April, 2015: the new memorial plaque, devoted to the student of the third course in medical faculty No 3. who committed the special heroic deed – gave his life defending Ukraine with weapons in his hands VOLODYMYR YURYCHKO – was opened on the house of administrative building of University.

The presenter at the event was the People’s Artist of Ukraine, Voice of Maydan YEVGEN NYSCHUK.

The following persons took part in solemnities: the whole family of Volodymyr YURYCHKO: father – Volodymyr Volodymyrovych, mother – Lidiia Bohdanivna and sister Solomiia; People’s Deputy of Ukraine, member in Supervisory board of NMU Olga BOHOMOLETS, deputy chairman in Kyiv city state administration Mykhaylo RADUTSKYY, Chairman in Supervisory board of University, public leader, Yuriy SCHERBAK, head of city Sambir in Lviv region Taras KOPYLIAK, clergymen from Mykhaylivskyy Zolotoverkhyy monastery and Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, People’s Deputies of Ukraine, public leaders, brothers-in-arms, friends of Volodymyr YURYCHKO.

After performing the State Hymn of Ukraine alive the speech was made by rector in O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, corresponding member in NAMS of Ukraine, professor Kateryna AMOSOVA:
”Today’s event is a symbol of spirit, science, thought and faith that unites our University and directs it academic community to the new heights and aspirations! Volodymyr Yurychko was born on 3, April, 1994 in Sambor in Lviv region in the family of doctors. Namely on this day he would celebrate his 21^st birthday. He was one of the best students. The future doctor was not trained for the war but the war called him to the rows of defenders of Ukraine that he loved most of all. He told to his father: “Who else but me?” Since the first days of Revolution of Dignity he was among its most active participants and after the wound in Maydan one of the first he went to the East of Ukraine to defend its independence with the weapon in his hands. He told to his parents that he served as a medical orderly but in fact he was an assistant machine gunner. He himself became a machine gunner in one of the battles after the loss of battle brother-in-arms. After liberation of one from the cities in Lugansk region by Ukrainian troops he personally put the blue and yellow flag of the Victory on the administrative building. Volodya has the entire life in the future. He was a sincere and devoted patriot of Ukraine until his last breath… He wrote the slogan: “With the shield or on the shield” on the wall in hostel. Courageous and brave words of real hero!”
At the end of the speech the head of University expressed the gratitude to the sculptor-artist, Laureate of Mykhaylo Lysenko Prize, sculptor of the year Dina MARGOLINA and sculptor-architect Yuriy KHRANOVSKYY for high professional work.
The academic community of the University supported the important organizational events as to immortalization of memory about Volodymyr Yurychko:
– Petition to the President of Ukraine to award Volodymyr Yurychko with the highest state reward of Ukraine – title of Hero of Ukraine.
– Approval of Provision about personal scholarship of Volodymyr YURYCHKO. Already now the first scholarships were awarded to its laureates Olesya Zhukovska (2^nd course in medical faculty No 2 and Oksana Mykhayliuk (3^rd course in medical faculty No 3).
– Awarding the name of Volodymyr YURYCHKO to the academic lecture hall No 4 in morphological building (Peremogy Avenue, 34), where the corresponding exposition is arranged and established.
– Organization of annual tournament on volleyball “Volodymyr Yurychko Memorial” among students of higher schools in c. Kyiv.

After solemn ceremony on opening the memorial plaque it was consecrated and the memorial service for Volodymyr and all heroes of Nebesna sotnya was performed. Almost during two hours the present people were listening to the speeches by different people, who recollected of Volodymyr as a brave human and real patriot.
