SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department is carrying out an initiative-research research project “Theoretical and practical aspects of improving clinical and experimental methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases and injuries of the organ of vision and their complications” (state registration number 0123U104207, implementation period 2023-2026)

The main directions of scientific activity of the department:

1. Improvement of methods of surgical treatment of cataracts and research on the results of pseudoaccommodating IOL implantation.
2. Study of aspects of pathogenesis and development of complex treatment of proliferative vitreoretinal processes.
3. Study of the biomechanical properties of the fibrous capsule of the eye.
4. Improvement of methods of diagnosis and treatment of primary, secondary and complicated forms of glaucoma.
5. Study of refractogenesis and accommodation mechanism of the eye.
6. Study of aspects of the pathogenesis of refractive errors and keratoconus.
7. Research of pathogenesis and development of modern methods of diagnosis, laser and surgical treatment of ocular complications of diabetes.

The regular organization of international conferences on its basis speaks for the scientific authority of the Department of Ophthalmology. The main directions of scientific research of the department are the development of new methods of surgical treatment of cataract with implantation of an artificial lens, the development of a model of the Ukrainian phacoemulsifier, the development and implementation of a device and a method of determining the biomechanical properties of the fibrous capsule of the eye, diagnosis and treatment of pathology of the organ of vision in children, diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases, diagnosis and treatment of vitreoretinal pathology, diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, diagnosis and treatment of eye complications of diabetes, minimally invasive surgery, diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases of the eye, laser methods of treatment of eye diseases, oncophthalmology.
