International cooperation

International cooperation between the Department of Phthisiology and Pulmonology is closely linked to two leading US medical schools: Brown’s medical school (Providence, Rod Ilend) and Boston Medical School (Boston, Massachusetts). At present, the department is being studied by RI Foundation Grants and AIDS Center Boston-Providence (Providentnce Boston Center for Aids Research, CFAR). 

The study aims to identify the causes of tuberculosis in children and improve approaches to the diagnosis of the disease in pediatric practice. The results of joint research are constantly reflected in publications in the most authoritative medical journals. The staff of the department annually present reports at the most prestigious forum dedicated to tuberculosis ˗ World Lung Health Conference. 

Students and young scientists of both countries are actively involved in scientific projects of the International Research Group. Since 2013, the annual program of undergoing one -month internship of students, interns and clinical residents of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets in the clinic of tuberculosis and HIV infection of Brown University. Since 2016, students from US universities have come to Ukraine to implement a summer research program. In 2018, students from Taiwan, Italy and Romania joined the student research group. 

In total, from 2013 to 2025, have already participated in international exchange 22 students and young people.
