Decision of the Academic Council of the Dental Faculty
In accordance with the Order of the Bogomolets National Medical University No. 120/2-76 dated October 22, 2020
According to the Order of the Bogomolets National Medical University dated October 5, 2020, No. 564, a distance learning format was introduced at the University, and according to the Order dated October 22, 2020, No. 609, the distance learning format was extended.
The Dental Faculty at NMU has already gained considerable experience in distance education, but the process of its improvement is ongoing.
In accordance with the Order of the Bogomolets National Medical University No. 120/2-76 dated October 22, 2020, to ensure the quality of education in the conditions of distance learning, of the Dental Faculty conducted the following:
- Methodological meetings of the departments of the Dental Faculty to discuss and approve the reports of teachers on the progress and results of the implementation of the schedule and timetable of the educational process;
- Online meetings of student representatives from the 1st to the 5th year of the Dental Faculty;
- A survey of students from the 1st to the 5th year of the Dental Faculty;
- The issue of “Ensuring compliance with the schedule and timetable under the conditions of the distance learning process at the Dental Faculty of Bogomolets National Medical University” was discussed at the meeting of the Academic Council of the Dental Faculty on November 12, 2020 (online).
Based on the information received, it is considered appropriate:
- classes are conducted exclusively according to the schedule approved by the educational and methodological department of Bogomolets National Medical University;
- the head of the department/head teacher of the department to constantly check compliance with the schedule and schedule of the educational process (using online communication with students, analysis of teacher reports);
- monitor compliance with the schedule and schedule of the educational process under conditions of constant communication between the University Administration, the Dean of the Faculty, heads of departments, teachers and students;
- to provide distance learning, it is mandatory to use the Neuron platform;
- provide for the provision of distance learning, if necessary, the possibility of using other means of electronic communication (Email, Telegram, Viber);
- when conducting classes, a mandatory component of communication between the teacher and the student should be video communication (Zoom, Skype, Google Meet).
To develop practical skills during online classes and the practical part of the final exams, situational tasks and clinical cases related to diagnosis and treatment, which are as close to practical activities as possible, should be used.
Links to recorded video lectures should be posted on the Neuron platform and department websites, providing students the opportunity to watch the lectures at a convenient time.
When evaluating students’ written works, the “Regulation on Academic Integrity at Bogomolets National Medical University” should be followed, and any manifestations of academic plagiarism should be considered unacceptable.
To implement and improve the quality of the educational process, it is necessary to provide department staff with computers equipped with webcams and microphones, and printers according to departmental requests, as well as to ensure high-quality, high-speed internet access in the classrooms.
