VII ALL-UKRAINIAN CONGRESS OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES

VII all-Ukrainian congress of representatives from students’ scientific societies at higher medical (pharmaceutical) schools with international participation, in which the delegates from 13 higher medical schools of Ukraine and Europe took part, was held on 19-20, 2015 at NMU.

The organizer of this congress was the students’ active group at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, namely members in O.A. Kysil Students’ scientific society. The chairmen in councils of Students’ scientific societies, deputy chairmen, secretaries and members in SSS HM(P)S of Ukraine, in particular, representatives from Zaporizhe state medical university, HSESU “Ukrainian medical dental academy”, Danylo Galytskyy LNMU, P.L. Shupyka NMAPE, Uzhgorod national university, M. Gorkyy Donetsk national university (c. Kramatorsk), V.N. Karazin Kharkiv national university, Bukovyna state medical university, M.I. Pyrogov VNMU, Kharkiv national medical university were present at the congress. The guests from Slovakia Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, c. Kosice Martin Vrsko and L’ubos Baláz, who were glad to share the experience in the sphere of organization and work of students’ scientific societies, as well as told about peculiarities for medical education in Slovakia, also visited the event.

The event was solemnly opened by welcome speech from scientific consultant in O.A. Kysil SSS, head at department of traumatology and orthopedics of NMU professor O.A. Buryanov. During the first day of congress they performed two plenary meetings. During the first meeting the chairmen and deputy chairmen in councils of SSS presented their reports about performed work by students’ scientific societies, the head in PO Ukrainian medical students’ association G. Melkumian presented the activity of the organization, as well as they discussed the urgent issues in cooperation of SSS at medical higher schools in Ukraine. The delegates willingly shared the expirience in organization of activity at their scientific societies, shared the useful advice, as well as assessed the work of SSS in general.

During the second plenary meeting they discussed the urgent problems in scientific research work of students, performed the searches for encouragement and motivation of students to scientific research work. They also proposed to create the joint projects with students from higher medical schools in different countries all over the world, discussed the participation of young scientists in development and implementation of innovative technologies in medicine and pharmacy. The issues about modern information technologies in work of societies were not left aside.

One of the important issues that were discussed by the delegates was the publishing activity of youth scientific associations. After finishing the official part the participants in the congress had the excursion to the morphological building, which was gladly performed by assistant professor at department of normal anatomy O.I. Kovalchuk. They organized the cultural program that included the walk along the streets in city Kyiv, visiting the most famous places in history of the city, as well as the meeting in informal environment.

The second day of the congress started with the same enthusiasm and rapid aspiration of participants for discussion and solution of issues about joint activity of scientific societies. During the third plenary meeting they discussed the issue about project activity of students’ scientific societies, attempt to solve the issue about financing the students’ science, as well the topic about perspective for union of students’ scientific societies at higher medical (pharmaceutical) schools of Ukraine.

The delegates of the congress also heard the speeches by guests that represented SSS at medical higher schools in Slovakia, as well as discussed the issues about close international and interuniversity cooperation of societies.

After solution and discussion of the most important issues they composed and agreed the main provisions of resolution that was signed by chairmen in Councils of Students’ scientific societies at higher medical (pharmaceutical) schools of Ukraine after completion of the congress. The main provisions were the issues about continuation in unity of representatives from youth medical (pharmaceutical) science in order to satisfy and to protect the professional interests and activity of young scientists of medical, pharmaceutical and medical biological profiles; formation of work group on establishment and coordination of dynamic calendar of conferences in Ukraine and abroad; establishment of extended network of access to references to all possible sources of information about students’ scientific societies, arrangement of cooperation with UMSA; extension of work on encouragement of students from junior courses to perform the scientific searches.
