OPEN LECTURE BY MASTER OF OXFORD UNIVERSITY OLENA SEMINOG

The open lecture by graduate from NMU, Doctor of Medicine, master and postgraduate PhD student at Oxford University Olena Seminog on topic “Electronic medical records in England. Experience of study at master’s and doctor’s course in Oxford University” took place on 23, May, 2016 at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.

During the lecture Olena Seminog performed the review of existing system on collection, processing, preservation and analysis of electronic medical data from hospitals in England.

According to the words by lecturer, the electronic medical records have the great importance for scientific researches. “They are widely used by doctors and scientists in the countries with developed systems on collection of medical data for performance of medical researches, including the monitoring of tendencies on spread and mortality from concrete diseases, for example, cardiovascular pathology, as well as study of more general indices, for example, load on hospitals, changes in duration of hospital treatment and differences in these indices due to regions or hospitals”, – emphasized Olena Seminog.

The part of the lecture was devoted to the topic of postgraduate education abroad. The lecturer told about conditions, rules and peculiarities for entry to master’s and postgraduate courses in universities of England.

Olena Seminog defended PhD dissertation, devoted to epidemiology of acute cerebrovascular diseases in England, she is the author of over 20 publications in English speaking medical journals by Royal Medical Society “Thorax” and “Lancet”.
