THE ROUND TABLE ON TOPIC “TEACHING CITIZENS WITH THE SKILLS OF THE FIRST MEDICAL AID” TOOK PLACE

The meeting of the round table on topic “Teaching citizens without medical education with the skills of the first medical aid. Role of medical students and young doctors in development of paramedicine in Ukraine” took place on 23, February, 2016 in administrative building of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.

The following persons were present at the meeting: rector of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university Kateryna Amosova, chairman in committee on issues of health care at VR of Ukraine Olga Bohomolets, chairman in Ukrainian Medical Students’ Association Garik Melkumian, representatives from Ukrainian Medical Students’ Association, O.A. Kysil Students’ scientific society, Students’ parliament of NMU, trade union of students at NMU and PO “Studdovira”.

The participants in the round table discussed the role of medical students in development of paramedicine in Ukraine, as well as listened to the reports about work of all-Ukrainian project “Medical volunteer” and educational training center of NMU on pre-hospital service.

The rector of NMU Kateryna Amosova emphasized the importance in performance of such events. She mentioned that “the university will further assist to development of all-Ukrainian project “Medical volunteer” and will support the students’ initiatives”. Let’s remind that the educational training center functions within the project “Medical volunteer” at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, where the certified instructors-volunteers (students and interns of NMU) free of charge teach people with the skills of pre-hospital service.

The chairman in committee on issues of health care at VR of Ukraine Olga Bohomolets shared with her experience in teaching citizens with the skills of the first medical aid and told the volunteers to what it is necessary to pay attention. During the meeting Olga Bohomolets announced the establishment of certified NATO Center in Ukraine, where the training of paramedics will be performed not only for Ukraine but for other countries all over the world.
