THE PROCEDURE FOR PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT FOR LABORATORY OF COMPUTER MODELING AND DIGITAL DENTISTRY IS STARTED

The implementation of modern methods for computer modeling, 3-D printing, 3-D scanning of objects and digital CAD/CAM technologies assisted to rapid development of different spheres of science and technology. The rapid development of computer equipment, software complexes, methods of computer diagnostics have qualitatively changed the approaches to diagnostics and treatment of diseases and pathological states in dentistry and medicine in general. Using such technologies enables creating the prototypes for bones of visceral cranium, patient-specific implants, navigation surgical templates, working orthopedic models and structures (crowns, veneers, inserts, full removable dentures, and clasps), orthodontic apparatuses, e-liners, etc. using 3D printers and CNC mills. The dental prostheses are hereby modeled not in manual mode on stone models but by computer using special programs and the accuracy of their manufacture using digital technology is increased by tens times. The digital dentistry in developed countries of the world gradually displaces the traditional methods for manufacture of dental prostheses that allows improving the productivity of labor, accelerating the circulation without loss of quality, optimizing and accelerating the working processes, as well as improving the level of satisfaction at doctors and patients.

In order to improve the material and technical provision of Dental medical center at O.O. Bohomolets NMU the university administration started the procedure for purchase of equipment and establishment of laboratory for computer modeling and digital dentistry, which has no analogs among state dental clinics in Ukraine. It is planned to purchase modern 3D printers that create the models by method of stereolithography and method of rapid prototyping, as well as optical scanners for digitization of dental imprints and models. Such solution about establishment of high technology laboratory will allow receiving practically all types of orthopedic structures, reducing the percent of mistakes, stipulated by human factor, creating the surgical templates for dental implantation and facial surgery, facial external prostheses. Hereby it is expected the significant reduction in the need in extension materials and expenditures of time for manufacture of prosthesis structures.

The implementation of new technologies will enable improving the educational process on the base of the Center at the expense of demonstration of virtual operations, drilling the skills, review of anatomy in volumetric perception, establishing the uniform digital base of learning cases for study of students and interns, creating the complex models to drill the practical skills and to demonstrate the unique cases.
