THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE TO WORLD HEALTH DAY STARTED ITS WORK

The international community all over the world celebrates the World Health Day on 7, April. Every year the World Health Day is devoted to global problems with which the health care of the planet faces and is held under different slogans. This year WHO announced the following topic “Safety of food products”.

O.O. Bohomolets NMU also joins to celebration of this day. Today, on 7, April, 2015, 2 days International scientific practical conference “Safety of food products” started its work at university.
The organizers of scientific forum are O.O. Bohomolets National medical university together with the Ministry of health care of Ukraine, National academy of medical sciences of Ukraine and Bureau of WHO in Ukraine.

Over 300 representatives from scientific schools and practical health care from different countries all over the world, including Belarus, Bulgaria, Moldova, Nigeria, Poland, Slovakia, Tunisia, France, etc. take part in the event.

The chairman in Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on health care issues Olga Bohomolets, Deputy Minister of health care of Ukraine Ihor Pereginets, representative of WHO in Ukraine Dorit Nitsan, rector of O.O. Bohomolets NMU Kateryna Amosova, vice-president in National academy of medical sciences of Ukraine Vitaliy Tsymbaliuk, as well as representatives of scientific institutions and educational establishments made the welcome speeches to the participants in the conference.

This year World Health Day is devoted to the safety of food products and is held under slogan “To make the food products safe from the farm to the plate”. The topic is very urgent under modern conditions for growth of risks for spread of diseases of food origin as a result from significant changes in manufacture of food products, consumption models, globalization of trade, intensification of agriculture, urbanization, marketization, changes in public lifestyles”, – mentioned the rector Kateryna Amosova.

“We are the ones what we eat. This expression really corresponds to the reality. So, the problems with health are more often connected with the consumption of poor quality food. And it is very important that the margin between earning the money and development of agroindustrial complex would not take the health and life of our compatriots. I am sure that agriculture and agroindustrial complex will be the push to development of the country and will become the ecologically friendly nurse not only of Europe but the whole world”, – emphasized Olga Bohomolets.

According to the words by Deputy Minister of MHC of Ukraine Ihor Pereginets 2 millions people die every year from the diseases of food origin all over the world, including children. Thus, the dangerous food products that contain the pathogenic bacteria, viruses, parasites or harmful chemical substances are the reason for over 200 diseases. The topic on safety of food products in Ukraine acquires the special importance. As we move in the direction of European integration, we need to adapt the quality models so that they would be efficient, modern and correspond to European standards.
