FIRST UNIVERSITY MEDICAL TOURNAMENT

The extraordinary and new for our University event – the First university medical tournament took place on 24, February, 2016. This is the regular project by society “Intellectual games of NMU”. The tournaments of young biologists and chemists are held in Ukraine already for more than 10 years and the idea to improve this motion to the higher level and to connect directly with the medicine was born only a year ago. The ideological founder of tournament motion in medicine is the student of the 5th course in medical faculty No 1 Astra Meliksetian.

Tournament is the team game that means the performance of trilateral scientific discussion on urgent problems in medicine and often such questions that now do not have the final answer.

Three teams took part in the game; three questions in cardiology, gastroenterology and neurotransplantology were played. The members of the teams showed extraordinary high level of erudition in particular specialties and good skills for conduct of scientific dispute.

The contests were assessed by professor at department of neurology at P.L. Shupyka NMAPE Tetiana Slobodin, assistant professor at department of neurosurgery of NMU Volodymyr Medvedev, assistant at department of internal diseases No 2 of NMU Ihor Katsytadze, genetic-gerontologist Oleksander Kolyada and experienced tournament trainer Olena Solyanyk.

The first place was taken by team “Pandemia” (captain Mariia Druzenko), second – “Med 1+1” (captain Arman Kacharian) and the third one – “Thatcher” (captain Bebik Iryna). All winners were awarded with valuable prizes.

Soon “Intellectual games of NMU” start the work on preparation for all-Ukrainian medical tournament that is planned for the next academic year.
