ІІІ ALL-UKRAINIAN COMPETITION IN PRACTICAL SURGERY

III all-Ukrainian competition in practical surgery was held on 11-13, March, 2016 at department of operative surgery and topographical anatomy at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.

The teams of medical universities in the country took part in the event: ONMU (Odessa), M.I. Pyrogov VNMU (Vinnytsia), IFNMU (Ivano-Frankivsk) Danylo Galytskyy LNMU (Lviv), KhNMU (Kharkiv), UMDA (Poltava) and O.O. Bohomolets NMU (Kyiv).

The participants competed in the following subcontests: intestinal suture, laparoscopy, dermatoplasty, thoracal surgery, urology, tendon suture, attention to the screen and knowledge of tools.

Organizers: surgical club “Armatamanus” (head of club Shamray D.V., deputy head Popandopalo O.O., art-director Shamray A.A.), department of operative surgery and topographical anatomy at O.O. Bohomolets NMU (head at department, professor Cherniak V.A., assistant professor at department Doroshenko S.V.), division of chest cavity cancer at National institute of cancer (head at division, Candidate of Medicine Kondratskyy Yu.M., leading researcher, Candidate of Medicine Ganul A.V.).

The contest “intestinal suture” this year consisted of two stages: 1^st stage – hemigastrectomy with reconstruction due to Bilrot II on training devices Armatamanus; 2^nd stage – “alive surgery” – enteroenteroanastomosis on rabbit in experimental operating room (the first innovation of competition). The second innovation was the subcontest “thoracal surgery”, which task was to perform the upper lobectomy of the lung. The head at division of chest cavity cancer at NIC Kondratskyy Yu.M., leading researcher in division Ganul A.V. and head at the club Shamray D.V. assessed the new subcontest.
The places were divided by the following way: 1^st place – team “Festinalente” (ONMU). Due to tradition the captain of the team-winner last year “Armatamanus” Popandopalo Oleksandra passed the challenge cup to the captain of team from ONMU Kozhokar Dmytro; 2^nd place – team “Armatamanus” (NMU, captain Kutsenko Yuriy); 3^rd place – team “Hippocrates’ DNA” (VNMU, captain – Sheparovych Tetiana).

The winners in the contest received the medal, diplomas (including diplomas for personal superiority in each subcontest), books in surgery and oncology, grants for study at National institute of cancer at school of oncosurgery (28, March – 1, April, 2016).
