THE SECOND MEETING OF COORDINATION COUNCIL ON ISSUES OF PUBLIC HEALTH

The second meeting of Coordination council on issues of public health took place on 9, August, 2016 in administrative building of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.

The meeting was held with participation of rector of NMU, professor Kateryna Amosova, representatives from School of medicine at California university in San-Francisco: director in group on issues of public health and prevention of diseases George Rutherford; head at division “Economical cooperation, social and regional development” in EU Delegation in Ukraine Jose Romana Leon Lora; master of public health care in San-Francisco Suzy Welty, as well as manager of USAID project “Reform of HIV-services in effect” Natty Avaliani, specialists from MHC of Ukraine, members in public organizations and specialists from Technical Bureau of WHO in Ukraine on HIV/AIDS.

USAID project “Reform of HIV-services in effect” is directed to develop the certified educational program in the sphere of public health care. In order to achieve this purpose, the University in state California, San-Francisco together with O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, Ukrainian center of family medicine has been working on development and implementation of Course for field-specific improvement “Modern aspects of public health care”. The course is oriented to implementation into modern system of constant professional development for medical workers.

The participants in the meeting got acquainted with the list of educational modules and their thematic filling. The experts also discussed the future for education in the sphere of public health in Ukraine.

The pilot training course will start in October, 2016 and will last for two months. Now the main task is to train the first specialists in the sphere, to perform the study, to translate the documents, as well as to train the active members in the sphere of public health.

The cycle of thematic improvement also anticipates the arrangement of close cooperation between faculties and departments of university. No less important is the election of leader in program at university, which will be responsible for the sphere and unite the active members around it. The target audience of the course is the teachers, students-practitioners, as well as the specialists with working experience.
