ABOUT COMMON GOALS AND NEW INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

24.01.2018

Not long ago I had the chance personally to get acquainted with out minister of foreign affairs Pavlo Klimkin. The two hours meeting flew very quickly as it is always the case, when your interlocutor is an intellectual, interesting and professional person. And the patriot. As you can meet such belief in better future of Ukraine not often.

It seems that the diplomacy and medical education do not overlap but it happened so that now in Ukraine the reforms take place in all directions – in the state, in economics, in society. Thus, everything is very interrelated and within this sense it is easier to find the common interests as the main thing is the aspiration for changes and the desire to work.

I think our meeting was very constructive as I received the support from Mr. Minister in such directions as cooperation with foreign policy department in the sphere of popularization of O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University abroad. It was interesting for the Minister to learn about international projects, which are implemented in our educational establishment, in particular, those ones that concern the study of the best educational practices in leading higher schools of Europe and world. I told Pavlo Klimkin about our innovation – implementation of objective structured clinical exam, so-called OSCE, during which the students have the possibility to master the acquired knowledge in practice to the best of their abilities. Such exam even in Europe is not in all higher schools. I also told that almost 20% from students this year are foreigners. And the image of our state in the world depends on what knowledge they would receive, how professional specialists they would become.

I obtained the support from minister in arrangement of exchange of students and teachers of NMU with knowledge with medical higher schools in the world. The interesting experiment on transfer to the international medical literature is now implemented at the university within cooperation with leading publishing houses and owners of rights in issues of textbooks.

We also discussed the possibility to establish the original center of higher medical education for countries of Eastern and Central Europe on the base of NMU. As it is quite possible, taking into account the abovementioned initiatives, which we will compulsorily implement and receive the positive result.

Why are our initiatives supported? It is quite simple. They are constructive, real and completely coincide with the vector of reforms, according to which Ukraine moves. Ukrainians seek for European level of life, so, they would have European education!
