THE TEACHERS OF UNIVERSITY PASSED THROUGH TEST IN ENGLISH

On 23, March, 2016 the first twenty scientific pedagogical workers of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university passed through APTIS testing from British Council in Ukraine on determination for level of knowledge in English.

Let’s remind that the Agreement about cooperation with company “British Council”, which work is directed to improve the level in possession of foreign language at leading higher schools in the country, was signed on 2, February, 2016 at the initiative of rector of University, professor Kateryna Amosova.

The performance of such testing will enable developing the educational program on courses for teachers, which will be offered by British Council to improve the level of knowledge at teachers up to B2 level. According to the words by head at division on planning and performance of exams “British Council” Nataliia Grynko, B2 level is sufficient for teaching and the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine approved it for receipt of scientific degree.

The test consists of 5 sections, which will help to define the level in formation of lexical and grammatical skills, abilities in reading, listening, speaking and writing. The duration of computer test was approximately three hours. The testing results are processed by independent experts in London (Great Britain) during seven days.

The teachers of University themselves think that such educational projects on improvement are necessary so that O.O. Bohomolets National medical university would perform the qualitative training of English speaking students from different countries of the world. Let’s remind that as of today approximately 1,400 foreign students study at NMU.

In total 40 teachers, who read the lectures in English to the first year students, will pass through testing at the first stage of cooperation between University and British Council in Ukraine.

The scientific pedagogical workers of University at the next stage will be offered with the program for trainings in order to improve the qualification and to get acquainted with the modern approaches to teaching of occupational disciplines of professional direction in English.

All participants, who will pass through testing and have the high results, will receive the certificate that will certify the level of English at teacher. APTIS certificate is acknowledged at the state and international level. O.O. Bohomolets National medical university was among the first HM(P)S of Ukraine that signed the Agreement with British Council that anticipates the long term and fruitful cooperation.
