THE LECTURE BY NATALIIA LITVINOVA “REVIEW OF LITERATURE IN MEDICINE” TOOK PLACE

The lecture by dean in medical faculty No 2, assistant professor in department of surgery No 4 Nataliia Litvinova on topic “Writing reviews of literature in medicine” took place on 23, March, 2016 in lecture hall No 1 at physical chemical building of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.

Nataliia Litvinova – doctor of the highest category, Candidate of Medicine, author of approximately 150 published works, thus, she undoubtedly has the great experience in their writing, which she wants to share with students.

The urgency of such topic is that the review of literature enjoys the great popularity in the most scientific fields. It is called systematic, and namely scientists and researchers read mostly often. The need in reviews of literature relates to a growing number of issues of scientific publications. For example, since 1991 until 2011 the number of scientific articles in Ukraine has grown from 3 to 60 times.

The idea about performance of such lectures has arisen at Nataliia Litvinova when she personally passed through online course in mastery under title “Writing in science” in English. “I am the secretary of journal “The heart and vessels” and editor of English texts in journal “The surgery of Ukraine”, I know the level of publications that are sent to us, and I still know what kind they shall be”, – tells the dean of medical faculty No 2.

It turned out that there are no analogous courses on mastery in writing reviews in Ukraine – if to compare writing in Ukrainian and English; they differ very much due to the structure. Nataliia Yuriyivna decided to start from the simplest thing in science – this is writing the full review of literature by researcher. She wants to teach young scientists to write articles correctly that will be accepted for publication in scientific journals and strives that we would have the qualitative publications and professional scientists. Nataliia Litvinova wants to share her experience in use of special electronic tools, programs, which may help to organize the database of literature, with experienced scientists.

“My purpose is to teach students correctly to write the literature for scientific publications, to make this knowledge available for all so that the quality of works by our students, sent to the scientific editions, would be the best one”, – tells Nataliia Litvinova.

This lecture is the second one in the project, which was developed by O.O. Bohomolets National medical university to improve the qualitative level in writing the scientific works and articles. The first lecturer was the dean of medical faculty No 1, Doctor of Medicine, professor Volodymyr Melnyk, who told about important details of work over scientific work.
