COOPERATION BETWEEN SRI OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF LEGAL SCIENCES OF UKRAINE AND BOHOMOLETS NMU

The seminar ‘Management of intellectual property in medical institutions of higher education’ was held on September 22, 2015 in the framework of cooperation between the Research Institute of Intellectual Property of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine and Bogomolets NMU.

Experts were Ph.D. O.Yu. Kashyntseva (Head of the Research Institute of Industrial Property Intellectual Property of National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, V.V. Pysyeva (Fellow researcher of the Centre for Human Rights and the harmonization of intellectual property rights, researcher of the Department of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer at the NMU), Ph.D. Ya.O. Iolkin (Leading Research at the Institute of Intellectual Property, acting head of the Department of Medical Law at Bogomolets NMU).

Experts highlighted the question of optimizing the management of intellectual property rights in the health sector, current trends of patent reform in medicine and pharmacy, which will be held in Ukraine after a welcome speech to the participants of Prorector for Research at NMU Professor Cherenko T.N. In addition, the features of the legal protection of research results in the field of medicine in the mode of intellectual property have been discussed.

The workshop brought together scientific and teaching staff of departments and institutions of the NMU, members of the Young scientists, graduate students and doctoral students of the NMU. Questions of gaining copyright, new principles of patent reform in Ukraine in the context of the agreement on association with the EU, particularly of patenting and intellectual property protection in developing methods of diagnosis, treatment, new forms of drugs aroused particular interest among the participants.

Subsequently, a series of scientific seminars on the specifics of the legal protection of intellectual property in the field of medicine and pharmacy in different thematic areas of partner institutions’ research and further enhance cooperation between NMU and Research Institute of Intellectual Property of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine are planned.

The papers that were presented during the seminar will be placed on NMU’s web site in the section ‘Innovations’ in section ‘Science’ with the consent of the authors.
