Nineteen students of the National Medical University participated in the International Neurological Symposium ‘NeuroSummit 2015: actual problems of modern neurology’, which was held on September 10-12th in Odesa.

Participants had the opportunity to listen to lectures of the best Ukrainian and Lithuanian experts and participated in the discussion. The symposium addressed not only the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders, but also interdisciplinary problems associated with differential diagnosis of diseases, the choice of tactics of treatment of stroke, diagnosis of the causes of chronic pain and its pathogenetic treatment.
In addition, Kestutis Stasaitis, head of the Department of Emergency Conditions of Lithuania, made a report on the organization providing emergency medical care to patients with acute stroke.

Also, members of the NMU, Assistant Professor of the Department of Occupational Hygiene and Occupational Diseases, S.H. Sova (‘How to prevent chronic back pain’) and Assistant Professor of the Department of Neurology, V.I. Romanenko (‘Pain in the lower back, algorithms for fine diagnosis and effective treatment’) made their presentations at the conference.
Two intellectual competitions ‘Shcho? De? Koly?’ (What? Where? When?) and Neurological youth tournament were held as a part of ‘NeuroSummit’. The first two student teams from NMU competed with students of Odessa National Medical University (ONMU) and three teams of neurologists from Transcarpathia, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk. Team ‘Tetcher’ won 3rd place in this competition, and they run away from competitors from ONMU in Neurological tournament and took the first place.

It should be noted that not only the NMU’s students were participants of such events. They also were involved in their organization.
