ІІ NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF UKRAINIAN MEDICAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

The national assembly of Ukrainian Medical Students’ Association (hereinafter referred to as UMSA) was held on 29.11.2014 at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university. The students’ leaders from 12 higher medical schools presented more than 50 projects at the meeting. The main task of the congress was to form Ukrainian calendar for projects of association, which will be implemented in all 15 medical higher schools-partners of UMSA. The medical students from the whole country discussed the problems in reformation of medical education, health care and concept of healthy lifestyle 2020. They took the decision to start implementing the project “Medical volunteer” and achieved the agreements about consolidation of efforts and cooperation within the uniform algorithm of this project. Committee of UMSA “Human rights and peace” presented the project on protection of students’ rights, who stiffly left their constant places of study.

The meeting was opened by president in Ukrainian medical students’ association, Garik Melkumian, setting the purpose of the assembly to give answer to the question: “How can now medical students help the country?” and to generate the answer in the form of national calendar of UMSA projects and clear algorithm for their implementation.

The medical students were welcomed by honorary guest of UMSA, Honorary Doctor of Ukraine, deputy of Verkhovna Rada, councilor of the president – Olga Bohomolets. Olga Vadymivna in her speech emphasized the importance in competitiveness of future Ukrainian doctors, and called up all to active participation in public life of the country. Bohomolets awarded the most active students and volunteers with gratitude memorable medals.

The president in Ukrainian federation of employers in health care sphere Zagorodniy Volodymyr Vasylyovych expressed his readiness to support the students’ projects, as well as to assist to active participation of future doctors in reformation process of medical education and health care. Among honorary guests there was the authorized person of MHC on protection of doctors’ rights Markevych Genadiy Yosypovych.

At the meeting they also presented the results from successful participation of UMSA delegation in general assembly “International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations” in Taiwan. Thanks to this future Ukrainian doctors will be able to train at the best clinics all over the world already since 2015.
