WEIGHT-LIFTERS OF THE NMU ON EARTH AND IN THE SKY

Weight lifters of Bogomolets National Medical University celebrated traditional holiday – the Day of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine jointly with the Federation of Kettlebell Sport of Ukraine. Events dedicated to this event, were held in two stages.

The first stage took place on September 5th, 2015 at the airport of Chernihiv aviation sports club ‘Progres’. Representatives of the Federation of kettlebell lifting of Ukraine and NMU’s athletic club ‘TONUS’ (8 persons), including Professor of the Department of Physical Education and Health of Bogomolets National Medical University. Yu. Shcherbyna and 4th year student of Dentistry faculty, member team of the NMU, weight lifting Zeripbay Egemberdiev who was ‘tired’ of fighting gravity while lifting weights, performed independent parachute jump from an airplane AN-2.

The next stage, already with weights, celebrated together with representatives of other sports in the capital’s central street Khreshchatyk, near the Kyiv State City Administration. Well-known group of power juggling of the NMU ‘Kozatski vytivky’, lecturer of the Department of Physical education and Health, a multiple world champion in weight lifting, Mykola Tkachuk, a graduate of the Medical Faculty No.1, Roman Yefymenko, 5th-year student of Medical Faculty No.2, Julia Lynnyk , 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Bohdan Chernenko also took part in this event. In addition, famous athletes and coaches of the Federation of Weight Lifting of Ukraine and weight-lifting veterans joined this prestigious event.

Exhibition performances and workshops attracted the attention of a large number of spectators who attempted to join the athletes and eagerly studied the elements of lifting weights and juggling weights. Sports festival was held under the musical supervision and with the participation of Serhiy Dolyna, master of TV program ‘Pro vse’.

Performance of weight lifters interested the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Ihor Zhdanov and President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Serhiy Bubka, who personally congratulated the athletes.
