ACADEMICIAN YEVGEN GNATOVYCH GONCHARUK’S READINGS
The annual scientific readings, devoted to famous scientist-hygienist and public leader, rector of Alma mater during two decades, academician in AMS of USSR, RAMS, NAS, AMS and APS of Ukraine Goncharuk Yevgen Gnatovych, took place on 26, April, 2016. The famous scientists – academicians Yu.I. Kundiyev, V.I. Tsymbaliuk, A.M. Serdiuk, I.M. Trachtenberg, chairman in council of Kyiv city trade union of health care workers L.V. Kanarovska, wife of Yevgen Gnatovych assistant professor G.O. Goncharuk took part in scientific forum.
Opening the solemnities, the rector of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, corresponding member in AMS of Ukraine, professor Kateryna Mykolayivna Amosova emphasized that it is not surprising that the readings are held on the 3oth anniversary of Chernobyl catastrophe as it was professor Ye.G. Goncharuk, who was the initiator for establishment of original anti-radiation headquarters within the then Kyiv medical institute. As it concerns the place of Yevgen Gnatovych in historical chronicle of NMU, which approaches to its 175th anniversary, the rector, having defined the scientific achievements of her predecessor, reasonably mentioned that NMU became the first self governing university among higher medical schools in Ukraine namely under his cadence.
One of the pupils of Ye.G. Goncharuk, director in Institute of hygiene and ecology at O.O. Bohomolets NMU, Honorary scientist and technician of Ukraine, Laureate of State prize of Ukraine, professor Serhii Tykhonovych Omelchuk presented the report about scientific heritage of academician Teacher “Research on combined action of xenobiotics and ionizing radiation as a hygienic basis for chemical and radiation safety at nuclear breakdowns”, which was vividly illustrated by unique photo documents and little known statistical material.
The great attention of the present people was paid to the speech by famous scientist-hygienist academician in NAMS of Ukraine, corresponding member in NAS of Ukraine, head at laboratory of industrial toxicology at Institute of medicine of labor at NAMS of Ukraine, professor Isak Mykhaylovych Trachtenberg about book by Oleksander Yavorovskyy “Academician Yevgen Gnatovych Goncharuk. Scientific priorities in preventive medicine”. In particular, he emphasized that the years of life of famous personality, described by author with the great mastership, are in addition sounded by their photos, added with detailed descriptions. And the creation of books about medical men is not only the tribute to tradition; this is the meticulous work on preservation of historical heritage by the next generation. And this mission is continued in the symbol of the new book about Ye. Goncharuk.
At the readings they demonstrated the interesting slide show about academician, created by the collective of department, where he used to be the head, and presented the exhibition about scientific and creative achievements by academician Ye.G. Goncharuk, which was prepared by employees of library at NMU.
