Invitation to the Conference «Environmental and Hygienic Challenges in Human Living Conditions»

23.03.2026

On March 25, a scientific and practical conference with international participation, entitled «Environmental and Hygienic Challenges in Human Living Conditions» will take place at Bogomolets National Medical University. The event is organized by the Institute of Conformity Assessment, Hygiene and Ecology of Bogomolets National Medical University.

Purpose of the Conference. The primary purpose of the conference is to promote the development of interdisciplinary and multilevel cooperation between environmental sciences and preventive medicine as integral components of the public health system; to advance understanding of the modern paradigm of environmental–hygienic interactions in the context of contemporary global and national challenges, including the consequences of armed conflicts, climate change, environmental degradation, chemical and biological pressures, transformation of working conditions, food security threats, and psychosocial risks.

The conference aims to strengthen human health through consideration of social and economic determinants, including food safety, occupational conditions, lifestyle factors, and the prevention of infectious and non-communicable diseases. Special emphasis will be placed on defining strategic pathways for the harmonization of research and educational activities within the “One Health” framework with key European Union directives, the implementation of innovative risk-assessment and disease-prevention approaches, and the enhancement of training for Doctors of Science, PhD candidates, and Master’s degree students. These objectives are particularly relevant in the context of Ukraine’s post-war recovery and represent an essential component of the modern vision for national scientific, educational, and societal development.

Participants will address the following topics:

  • Environmental and hygienic aspects of health preservation and quality of life under increasing chemical exposure, including pesticides, industrial chemicals, household substances, and emerging synthetic compounds.
  • Hygienic and environmental assessment of physical, chemical, and biological risk factors, considering combined and low-dose exposure, modern sanitary regulation approaches, integrated monitoring, and health impact assessment.
  • Innovative and safe technologies for chemical use in agriculture, industry, and everyday life aimed at risk reduction, exposure minimization, and sustainable development.
  • Biological safety and biosecurity in healthcare, industry, agriculture, and daily life amid global biological threats, antimicrobial resistance, and bio-incident risks.
  • Advanced methods for identification and quantitative assessment of pollutants in air, water, soil, and food products, including digital technologies, biomonitoring, and individual, cumulative, and population risk assessment.
  • Medical and environmental consequences of armed conflicts, technological accidents, and emergencies; health and environmental risk assessment and scientific approaches to post-war recovery.
  • Public health under global transformations: harmonization of national approaches with international and European strategies, the role of science, historical experience, and innovation.
  • Development of human resources in public health systems through intersectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration, digitalization, and European educational standards.
  • Leadership, governance, and policy in public health; global health security and implementation of the One Health concept.
  • European integration and international intersectoral cooperation in public health, including joint scientific and educational initiatives.

Forms of participation:

  • oral presentation (time limit: presentation – 7 minutes, discussion – 3 minutes);
  • poster presentation (time limit – 5 minutes; poster size: A1 format (59.4 cm × 84.1 cm));
  • publication of abstracts.

Each participant will receive a personalized electronic certificate. Registration and successful completion of the mandatory assessment are required in order to obtain the certificate; the relevant electronic forms will be distributed during the conference.
