THE SEVENTH LINK OF TELEMEDICINE NETWORK

On 14, April, 2016 the traumatology department at emergency care hospital in c. Mariupol was added to existing telemedicine network of AFU. The employees at department of orthopedics and traumatology at O.O. Bohomolets NMU, representatives from National military medical clinical center, administration of emergency care hospital (c. Mariupol) and journalists of local mass media were present at the solemn opening of the seventh link of the system.

The most important task of telemedicine is to remove the distance between medical staff and personnel. Thanks to the use of system equipment and internet it is possible to perform the medical consultation between specialists in medical service of AFU to solve the issue about definition of tactics and optimization for treatment of patients with battle injuries at the stage of medical evacuation, including during performance of operative interferences.
Now there is the network of seven centers: Artemivsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Irpin, Lviv, Odessa and Mariupol. The usual practice is teleconference bridges between participants in the network both within the purpose of consultation with leading specialists and watching for patients after complex operative interferences. Due to continuation in armed conflict in the east of Ukraine the number of injured people with severe traumas, the treatment and observation for whom shall be dynamic, is constantly increased. One of the keys to solve the issue is telemedicine.
During presentation of the new project they performed the uniform teleconference bridge between all telemedicine centers of system, in which the chief traumatologist at MD of Ukraine, chief traumatologists from the northern, southern and western regions, specialists from Irpin military hospital took part. They considered the complex clinical cases for treatment of patients with injuries of locomotor apparatus, solved the issues on further surgical treatment, peculiarities for rehabilitation. They also for the first time presented the system for assessment of efficiency and monitoring for rendering the distance medical aid with application of telemedicine systems.
Vinnytsia military hospital is on the turn, hereby the connection of all regional medical centers will be finished. The first stage in formation of system was finished. The urgent need of today at the next stage is the wide implementation of telemedicine technologies in the system of medical establishments at MHC that will assist to formation of the uniform system for organization of medical aid in Ukraine”, – mentioned the head at department of orthopedics and traumatology at O.O. Bohomolets NMU, professor Oleksander Burianov during interview to the local mass media.
Besides, the employees at department of orthopedics and traumatology visited 61 military mobile hospital, which is located on the base of Volodarska district hospital (Donetsk region). The round of sorting ground, admission department, Roentgen office, administrative station, round of surgical department and state of field operating room was held under supervision of the head at mobile hospital (by the way, graduate from NMU).
The implementation of telemedicine system in traumatology department of emergency care hospital in c. Mariupol took place under assistance of deputies from fraction UO “Batkivschyna” of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, including the people’s deputy of Ukraine Vladyslav Bukharev.
