THE SECOND VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT IN MEMORY OF VOLODYMYR YURYCHKO
The interuniversity volleyball tournament Volodymyr Yurychko Memorial was held on 15-16, April, 2016 at sports complex of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.
The sports event was devoted to the memory of the captain in men’s combined team of O.O. Bohomolets NMU in volleyball, student of medical faculty No 3, warrior of self-defense at Euromaydan, leader in revolution of dignity at University, machine gunner in voluntary battalion “Aydar”, who perished in the battle for the people of Ukraine. The Decree from President of Ukraine No 365, dd. 2015 “About awarding with state awards of Ukraine” awarded Volodymyr Yurychko posthumously with the order “For courage” of the III degree for personal courage and high professionalism, showed in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, adherence to military oath.
The first pro-rector on scientific pedagogical work professor Yaroslav Tsekhmister, head at Kyiv administration of Committee of physical education and sport at Ministry of education and science of Ukraine Serhii Bobrovnyk, head at department on affairs of family, youth and sport at Shevchenkivska district state administration in city Kyiv Yuliia Shevtsova, parents of Volodymyr Yurychko – Volodymyr Volodymyrovych and Liliia Bohdanivna, as well as the students and friends of leader in revolution of Dignity at University made the welcome speeches to participants during the solemn opening of competitions.
“Volodya was the special student, who made the sacred feat for Ukraine and gave the most expensive thing – life. Two years passed since He perished but the light memory about Him for perpetuity embodied into 175 years history of University”, – mentioned the first pro-rector Yaroslav Tsekhmister.
Already on 25, December, 2014 the Scientific Council of University approved Volodymyr Yurychko personal scholarship. The decision by special scholarship commission on appointment of Volodymyr Yurychko personal scholarship, dd. 20, January, 2016, according to the results from secret voting, determined two winners – Yana Andreyeva (medical faculty No 3, 4thcourse) and Dmytro Cheryomushkin (dental faculty, 3rd course).
The teams from O.O. Bohomolets National medical university (teachers and students), Borys Grinchenko Kyiv university, Boychuk Kyiv state institute of decorative and applied arts and design, Institute of criminal executive service, combined team of National aviation university and combined team of Hetman Petro Konashevych-Sagaydachnyy Kyiv state academy of water transport took part in volleyball tournament. The captains of the teams and father of Volodymyr Yurychko were granted with the right to raise the state flag of Ukraine. They took one minute’s silence in remembrance of the Hero.
6 matches were played during two days. The team from O.O. Bohomolets National medical university (students) won the victory in competitions. The silver medalist was the team from National aviation university, and the bronze medalist – team from Borys Grinchenko Kyiv university. The winners were awarded with the Cup, and all participants in competitions – with memorable medals and diplomas.
