PATIENTS’ ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORTED THE PLANS OF NMU ABOUT ESTABLISHMENT OF UNIVERSITY CLINIC

On 29, July, 2015 O.O. Bohomolets National medical university and all-Ukrainian union on protection of patients’ rights “Health of nation” that unites 18 public organizations signed the memorandum about the main principles for involvement of public into development of system of university clinics.

The event was held at restored lecture hall of pathoanatomy building, which belonged to university clinic of medical faculty in St. Volodymyr University in XIX century. Later O.O. Bohomolets National medical university was established on its base.

The parties agreed to organize the public monitoring for activity of university clinic by patients’ organizations, including for financial and economical activity, conditions of medical aid and level of doctors’ qualification.

“The model of university clinics, which historically worked in our country almost during one century, and which has been working in the West already for more than 150 years allows optimally uniting the medical aid, medical education and medical science. And such combination to a certain degree allows saving the money”, – mentioned the rector of O.O. Bohomolets NMU Kateryna Amosova.

“The university clinic is the concentration of resources in one territory. And the treatment in it has the minimal risks for patients, as the professional practitioner-teacher is always nearby in the triangle “patient-student-teacher”. In my opinion, the university clinic shall be the model for attitude to patient and the lights shall come through it into medical science”, – emphasized the chairwoman in Union of public organizations “All-Ukrainian union on protection of patients’ rights “Health of nation” Valentyna Ocheretenko.

Among directions of cooperation in particular they separated the informing the patients about advantages of treatment at university clinics and spread of experience in order to create the whole network of university clinics in Ukraine.

The memorandum is open to be signed by other participants – representatives of public organizations.
