UMSA GENERAL ASSEMBLY WAS HELD

On October 17, 2015, General Assembly of the Ukrainian Youth Association of Medical Students UMSA was held at Bogomolets NMU, which brings this year together all the top medical schools in Ukraine, including Donetsk and Luhansk medical higher educational institutions. The event was attended by leaders of student government from all higher educational institutions of Ukraine.

The chairman of the Ukrainian Youth Association of Medical Students Garik Melkumyan, opened the congress, summed up the results of the organization for the past year and emphasized the goals the organization sets. The Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Education at Bohomolets NMU Yuriy Kuchyn welcomed participants and guests of the Assembly on behalf of Bogomolets National Medical University, stressing the changes in postgraduate medical education and inviting to training the best graduates from all over Ukraine.

President of the Ukrainian Federation of Employers in Health Care Volodymyr Zagorodniy expressed his readiness to support students in cancellation of three-year internship, adding that now it is an absolute injustice and discrimination of graduates of medical universities.

In his speech, HR-director of the corporation ‘YURIYAFARM’ Ihor Naida focused on the personal qualities that should have a specialist doctor, called future doctors for clear setting a goal and achieving it. Speaker advised not to stop searching for themselves, for students it is future of medicine. Ihor Naida received the gratitude from the Ukrainian Youth Association of Medical Students for a significant contribution to the development of the organization and all-Ukrainian project ‘Medychnyy Volonter’.

Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Medical Association Kostiantyn Nadutyy stressed the importance of student’s participation in the process of reforming health care industry, the need for continuous development and called the youth branch VULT to the organization.

The congress chairman of the National Youth Council of Ukraine Andriy Kolobov, supported all initiatives of doctors and expressed readiness to contribute to their implementation, also welcomed participants.

Student leaders from 15 higher educational institutions presented their projects at a meeting. It was decided to continue the project ‘Medychnyy Volonter’ and agreed to consolidate efforts and cooperation within a single algorithm for this project.

Medical students from across the country discussed the issue of three years working and instructed the working group to prepare specific proposals to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

On October 18, a project UMSAstartup was held in the framework of the General Assembly UMSA: How to attract investment in the project? How to win the trust of the society? Where to start? More participants got all these questions answered.

Managing Partner of the company Axiline, founder of the  project Upgrade Andriy Klymenko presented a completely different vision of medicine in the modern world ‘Medicine as a business’, in which the most important slogan were: ‘Take responsibility and constantly develop’ and ‘Self-development – that the lot’.

The author of the Fund’s idea ‘Tabletochki’, PR-manager Olga Kudynenko described the promotion of non-profit charitable projects and the importance of a broad advertising. She also stated that she is ready to support the training abroad of interns and young doctors in the field of ‘oncohematology’ in the best clinics in the world.

The head of donor project ‘SvizhaKrov’, Valentyn Desiatnyk, discussed problems of donation in Ukraine. During his speech, he explained how to present the idea by his personal example.

NGO ‘All-Ukrainian Youth Association of Medical Students’ is the official representative of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Association – IFMSA in Ukraine since 2014 and brings together future doctors from 15 higher medical educational institutions.

IFMSA is an advisory body of WHO presented the national medical student organizations from 129 countries. The main activity of IFMSA is international clinical and scientific exchange of medical students and interns.
