THE ELEVENTH READINGS IN THE MEMORY OF GONCHARUK YEVGEN GNATOVYCH

The readings, devoted to the memory of the former rector of NMU academician Ye.G. Goncharuk, are held at the university on 23, April, 2015 during eleven years in succession. This time, honoring the 85^th anniversary since birthday of famous scientist-hygienist, the lecture hall that bears the names of famous surgeon Mykola Amosov gathered the representatives of different generations – pupils and followers of Ye.G. Goncharuk, young doctors and students. In the presidium there are friends and co-workers of Yevgen Gnatovych, well-known scientists A.M. Serdiuk, Yu.V. Kundiyev, I.M. Trachtenberg, wife of academician G.O. Goncharuk.

The rector of NMU, corresponding member K.M. Amosova in her introductory speech paid attention to the fact that this is the very classical case when a human made himself, taking all efforts to pass the way from the excellent student to the scientist with the world name, academician, rector of the leading medical higher school.

The reporter professor O.P. Yavorovskyy developed this thesis and showed the sources of successes that caused to his acknowledgement as a scientist and executive on certain vivid examples from the life of Ye.G. Goncharuk. Yevgen Gnatovych had the teachers, of whom the medical community of Ukraine is proud now. They laid the foundation of knowledge, aspiration for creative search, which became the base for own scientific achievements. It is interesting that one of these teachers – academician I.M. Trachtenberg was present at the readings. Isaac Mykhaylovych confirmed that almost fifty years ago he was an active participant in the commission that accepted the Candidate’s thesis of young scientist Ye.G. Goncharuk for defense. Later the fruitful creative relations were established between the pupil and teacher.

The scientific developments by scientist Ye.G. Goncharuk as to self-purification of soil, methodology and principal schemes for regulation of exogenous chemical substances in the soil still remain urgent in our times. For the first time he and his adherents established the laws of hygiene, which underlay the study of laws for influence of environmental factors on human health. Yevgen Gnatovych was the author of the first fundamental textbook, published in Ukrainian “General hygiene. Propedeutics of hygiene”. Academician Ye.G. Goncharuk came down in history of medical higher school as a talented organizer. In particular, when he was the rector they established eight new faculties, fifteen departments, the construction of physical chemical building was finished, and the seventh hostel was built. He founded the institute of hygiene and ecology and the higher school, headed by him, acquired the title of National medical university.

These readings that testified that the memory about academician Ye.G. Goncharuk lives and talented pupil continue his affairs were called the lesson of spirituality and morality.
