THE CONFERENCE “HIGHER MEDICAL EDUCATION: MODERN CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES” STARTED ITS WORK

The first in Ukraine among higher medical schools scientific practical conference with international participation “Higher medical education: modern challenges and perspectives” started its work on 3, March, 2016 on the base of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.

The event was organized under support of our University, in particular rector of O.O. Bohomolets NMU, professor Kateryna Amosova and under support of Ministry of health care of Ukraine.

The first pro-rector on scientific pedagogical work, professor Yaroslav Tsekhmister made the welcome speech on behalf of the rector in NMU, professor Kateryna Amosova. “The today’s scientific forum united the national and foreign specialists, devoted to the noble undertaking of health care and medicine. Our joint work during plenary meetings and round tables is the possibility not only to share with experience, achievements and to get acquainted with the challenges, which higher medical education faces now”.

The social event grouped academicians, professors, scholars, scientists, future doctors, pharmacists, students of scientific societies. The honorary foreign guests from Great Britain, Poland, USA, and Serbia take part in the Conference. The interesting and intensive programs for meetings, round tables, interactive games are waiting for participants within the performance of the event, and all materials are published in collection of scientific works.

The people’s deputy of Ukraine, member in Supervisory board of O.O. Bohomolets NMU, chairman in Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on health care issues Olga Bohomolets made the welcome speech to the participants in the Conference on behalf of Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: “With the great respect and gratitude to O.O. Bohomolets National medical university to our guests from different countries I would like to tell that the reform of education, including medical one, is one of top-priority directions in development of our country. Education is the philosophy for perception of society, which surrounds us; this is the level of our responsibility, understanding and patriotism. We should remember that doctor’s mistakes cost the life. The change in paradigm of Ukrainian medical education shall become the basis for further important steps at medical higher schools – upbringing a doctor, patriot of our state. O.O. Bohomolets National medical university shall become the flagman, which will take the changes in paradigm of higher education under its patronage. The Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on health care issues is ready to support those reforms, which will offer to establish the university clinics at O.O. Bohomolets NMU and to develop the international cooperation”, – mentioned Olga Bohomolets.

The chairman in sanitary epidemiological service of Ukraine Sviatoslav Protas made the welcome speech to participants in scientific forum. “Today we are at the stage of reforms in the spheres of health care and system of preventive medicine” the reforms, which are implemented, are directed to form the institute of public health in Ukraine. We sincerely believe that they will be the qualitative systematic changes in our consciousness”, – mentioned the chairman in sanitary epidemiological service of Ukraine.

Professor in London College of Medicine Lesley Bromley and representative from Polish academy of sciences in Kyiv, professor Henry Sobchuk made the welcome speech to participants in the Conference. Foreign guests expressed the readiness for different forms of cooperation at international level and support to all reformations in medical education f Ukraine.

Over 200 participants took part in scientific discussion during round tables on the first day for work of the conference and heard the reports about development of standards for higher medical education (reporter – deputy director in Testing center at MHC of Ukraine, assistant professor Maryna Mruga); identifications of competencies at future doctor pursuant to experience of NMU (reporter – professor at department of surgical dentistry and facial surgery at O.O. Bohomolets NMU Yaroslava Kulbashna); position and staff provision for training of doctors due to medical preventive occupation (reporter – dean at medical faculty No 4, professor Ihor Pelyo) and about development of public health care (reporter – head at department of health care organization and social medicine at O.O. Bohomolets NMU, professor Tetiana Gruzeva).

The participants will include the key projects and proposals of reports during the first day for work of the Conference into resolution.
