History of the department

The Department of Pharmacy and Industrial Drug Technology was established in 2002 by order of the Rector of the NMU named after O.O. Bogomoletsa No. 440 dated 28.05.2002, by means of reorganization of the Department of Pharmacy, which functioned on the basis of the Faculty of Pharmacy since 1998.

From the beginning of its history until now, the department carries out the process of education in an accessible form, both for domestic students and for citizens of other countries. The languages ​​of instruction are Ukrainian and English, and sometimes for foreign-speaking visitors on an individual basis, teachers experimentally provide information in the students’ native languages, for example, French.

The history of the department includes the milestones of its leadership by various outstanding and well-known figures of science and practitioners devoted to their specialty with significant practical experience in both practical and legislative fields.

Thus, the first years of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets was marked by the period of the deanship and headship of the department of pharmacy with the drug technology section by an outstanding scientist, Honored health care worker of Ukraine, recipient of the Order, doctor of pharmaceutical sciences, professor, academician of the International Academy of Informatization at the United Nations Volokh Dmytro Stepanovych. In 1954, he entered the pharmaceutical faculty of the Lviv State Medical Institute, which he graduated in 1959 and was assigned to the village of Ivanitsa, Chernihiv region. He was in charge of the Ivanytsia district pharmacy. In 1960, he was transferred to the regional pharmacy department in the city of Chernihiv. Deputy head (1961), head of the Chernihiv Regional Pharmacy Department (1966). In 1979, by order of the Minister of Health of Ukraine, Dmytro Stepanovych Volokh moved to Kyiv, first to the position of deputy head of the Main Pharmacy Department of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and two years later – head of the General Administration of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The first dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets (1996–2003). For his significant personal contribution to the development of the pharmaceutical service of Ukraine, Dmytro Stepanovych Voloh was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Order of Merit of the 3rd degree, the medal “To commemorate the 1500th anniversary of Kyiv”, “Excellent Health Care “. For his high professional skills, Dmytro Stepanovych received the honorary title of “Honored Worker of Health Care of Ukraine”, awarded with certificates of honor from the government, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (1996), a silver medal of the VDNH. Voloh D.S. author of more than 100 scientific works, including 5 monographs, 2 textbooks, 2 reference books. Trained 2 doctors and 30 candidates of pharmaceutical sciences.

 

The first head of the newly formed department of pharmacy and industrial drug technology was candidate of pharmaceutical sciences, associate professor Lidia Gireevna Moskalenko, who graduated from the Kharkiv Pharmaceutical Institute. As the head of the department Moskalenko L.G. was there from 16.05.2002 to 11.07.2005. Under the leadership of Lidia Gireevna, a number of cosmetic preparations, preventive and hygienic products and food formulations were developed. Lidia Gireevna actively cooperated with the Ukrainian branch of the International Olympic Committee, for which she developed and put into practice means that contributed to the achievement of significant sports results without doping. Acad. I.S. Guloy and the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design became the creation of food and cosmetic recipes for the brands Fanny, Slavia, Eco Line Food, Biolanta, Image and many others. From 01.09.2005 to 13.02.2006, the duties of the head of the department were performed by Yury Vasyliovych Voloshchenko – candidate of medical sciences, senior researcher.

He was born on April 10, 1935 in the village of Makariv, Kyiv region. He graduated from the Kyiv Medical Institute in 1959. In 1960-1969, he was a researcher at the Research Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology and Parasitology (now the Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases of AMNU); in 1969-1999 – director of the Kyiv enterprise “Biopharma”; in 2005-2006 – head of the department of pharmacy and industrial drug technology of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets (Kyiv). Yu.V. Voloshchenko is the author of more than 50 scientific papers, 30 patents and 15 popular scientific articles in periodicals

From February 13, 2006 to June 27, 2012, the department was headed by Mykhailo Lukovych Syatinya, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, graduate of the Lviv State Medical Institute. Mykhailo Lukovych Syatinya (16.08.1957–05.04.2017, Synevyr village, Transcarpathian region) – Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (2004), member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences of Scientific Progress (1996), Honored Worker of Health Protection (1998), Head of the Department of Organization and economics of pharmacy of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets (from 2012 to 2017). Graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Lviv State Medical Institute (1979). Worked: pharmacist of pharmacy No. 7 (1979), manager of the central district pharmacy of the Shevchenkiv district of Kyiv (1983), head of production of the Ukrainian-English enterprise “Femtek” (1989); consultant of the trade representation of Hungary in Ukraine (1990); director of the Hungarian JSC “Medimpex” (1995); director of the representative office of JSC “Gedeon Richter” and president of LLC “Gedeon Richter-Ukrpharm” (1996-2002); People’s Deputy of the IV convocation, chairman of the subcommittee on legislative support for the development of pharmacy and the implementation of pharmaceutical activities of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on health, motherhood and childhood (2002-2006); associate professor, professor of the Department of Organization and Economy of Pharmacy of P.L. Shupyka (1996-2006); head of the department of pharmacy and industrial drug technology (2006-2012), head of the department of pharmacy organization and economics of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets (from 2012 to 2017). Directions of scientific research: theoretical and organizational and technological foundations of medical provision of the population. Scientific achievements: the author of about 50 scientific and educational-methodical works, including 2 monographs, 2 textbooks, a reference dictionary.

 

From 27.06.2012 to 10.04.2014, the head of the department was Popovych Valery Pavlovich – doctor of pharmaceutical sciences, associate professor, graduate of the Lviv State Medical Institute.

Date and place of birth: July 1, 1963 in the village of Kucha, Novoushyn district, Khmelnytskyi region.

1978-1981 – studied at Zhytomyr Pharmaceutical School.

1984-1989 – student of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Lviv Medical Institute. 1989 – internship as pharmacist-technologist of pharmacy No. 142 in Ternopil. From December 1989 to September 1992, he studied at a graduate school, specializing in “Medicine technology and organization of pharmaceutical business”. In 1992-1997, he was an assistant at the “Factory Technology of Medicines” department of the Lviv Medical Institute. On January 29, 1993, he was awarded the scientific degree of candidate of pharmaceutical sciences, and on January 3, 1995, he was elected to the position of associate professor of the department of factory technology of medicinal forms.

1997-2006 – scientific consultant on drug technology of “ECMI Production and Trade Firm” LLC. 2006-2013 – associate professor of the department of pharmacy and industrial drug technology of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets 2012-2014 – head of the department of pharmacy and industrial technology of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets In parallel, in 2013-2016, he worked as a part-time chief technologist at ECMI Manufacturing and Trading Company LLC. From September 2016 to the present, he is a teacher of pharmaceutical disciplines at the Zhytomyr Basic Pharmaceutical College of the Zhytomyr Regional Council. He was a member of the editorial board of the “Ukrainian scientific and medical youth magazine”, a scientific and practical edition (Ukraine) and the International scientific and practical journal for pharmacists and doctors “Recept” (Belarus). He is the author and co-author of more than 50 scientific and educational works and more than 10 patents.

 

From 2014 to 2017, the position of head of the Department of Pharmacy and Industrial Drug Technology was held by Kosyachenko Kostyantyn Leonidovych, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Pharmacy of Ukraine.

Born on September 10, 1971 in the city of Kirovohrad (since 2016 – Kropyvnytskyi). Doctor of pharmaceutical sciences (2012), associate professor (2011), graduated from the Zaporizhia Medical Institute (1993). After graduation, he worked as a manager of a pharmacy in the Kirovohrad region. Later, he was invited to the Zaporizhia Medical University. In 1998, he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Since 1999, he has held managerial positions in the system of drug quality control bodies, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Administration of the President of Ukraine. He did not leave scientific and teaching work: he taught at the National Pharmaceutical University, the National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after P.L. Shupyka In 2012, he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. From 2014 to 2017, he was the head of the department of pharmacy and industrial drug technology of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets He deals with the problems of drug pricing in Ukraine, implementation of the health care technology assessment system. Chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the specialty “Organization and management of pharmacy”. Member of the editorial board of a number of professional journals. In 2007, by Decree of the President of Ukraine K.L. Kosiachenko was awarded the honorary title of Honored Worker of Pharmacy of Ukraine. He is the author and co-author of more than 100 scientific and educational works, textbooks and manuals.

 

In October 2017, the department was headed by Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Zhanna Mykolaivna Polova.

In 1996, she graduated from the Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Academy (Kharkiv) with a specialty in “Pharmacy” and received the qualification of “Pharmacist” and for another year she studied at the internship at the Institute of Advanced Training of Pharmacy Specialists of the Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Academy in the specialty “general profile pharmacist”.

From 1996 to 2001, she studied at a postgraduate course at the Department of Factory Medicine Technology of the National Pharmaceutical University. In 2001, she defended her thesis for the degree of candidate of pharmaceutical sciences, specialty 15.00.01 – drug technology and industrial pharmacy on the topic: “Development of the composition and technology of therapeutic and preventive dental varnish.”

Since 2006, she has worked as an assistant at the Department of Drug Technology and Biopharmaceutics at Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University. Since September 2010, he has been working at the department of pharmacy and industrial drug technology of O. O. Bogomolets National Medical University. In 2014, he was awarded the title of associate professor. From 2015 to 2017, she was responsible for the educational and methodological work of the department. Since 2017, she has been acting as the head of the department.

In 2019, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, specialty 15.00.01 – drug technology, pharmaceutical case organization and forensic pharmacy on the topic: “Theoretical and experimental substantiation of the composition and technology of antimicrobial drugs for use in veterinary medicine.”
