The educational process at the department is conducted with students of the IV-VI courses of medical faculties #1, #2, the faculty of training doctors for the armed forces of Ukraine and the faculty of training foreign citizens. The department teaches “Internal Medicine”: Module 1, Module 2, Module 3, as well as “Training of Reserve Officers: Military Field Therapy” and optional courses: “Basics of Gerontology and Geriatrics”, “Basics of Rheumatology, Clinical Aspects of Pulmonology”, “Emergency and urgent care in the clinic of internal medicine”, “Clinical aspects of hematology, transfusion and immunoprophylaxis”, “Geriatrics and gerontology”.<\/p>\n

The staff of the department consists of 4 doctors and 14 candidates of medical sciences or doctors of philosophy, 8 teachers speak and teach fluently in English, 4 graduate students study at the department. 3 doctors and 4 candidates of medical sciences teach part-time at the department.<\/p>\n

The scientific output of the department includes more than 1,200 scientific publications, 6 textbooks, 12 training manuals, 22 practical guides and monographs, 10 handbooks, 21 methodical recommendations, more than 700 reports on forums of various levels.<\/p>\n

Employees of the department perform medical and advisory work at eight clinical bases: KNP “Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 3” (the main clinical base), DU “Main Medical Clinical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine”, State institution “Territorial Medical Association of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv”, KNP “Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 4”, KMKL No. 3 on railway transport, Medical Center “Universal Clinic “Oberig”, DU “Institute of Nephrology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”, LLC “Nephrocentr”.<\/p>\n

The department holds monthly meetings of the student research group. Modern problems of rheumatological, cardiovascular, pulmonological, gastroenterological diseases are studied. Emphasis is placed on topics and diseases that are not included or are partially covered in the internal medicine curriculum. Students from Gurtkiv are active participants of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiads, the All-Ukrainian Contest of Student Scientific Papers, scientific and practical conferences.<\/p>\n
