Over the decades, it has trained many prominent scientists who went on to lead departments and research teams in Ukraine and abroad. Shmyhol<\/strong>(Warwick Medical School, United Kingdom)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Areas of Activity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Theoretical Direction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Covers modern topics in neurophysiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, cardiology, endocrinology, and radiology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practical Direction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Includes workshops and master classes; laboratory research at the department and leading scientific institutions in Kyiv; interdepartmental projects and joint practical sessions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annual Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EEG Master Class<\/strong>\u2014 studying the principles of recording and interpreting brain activity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interdepartmental meeting on sports physiology<\/strong>in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacology.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Workshop \u201cX\u2011ray Image Analysis\u201d<\/strong>in cooperation with the Department of Radiology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Presentation Topics of the Past Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hepatobiliary system; hormones and sleep regulation; oxytocin and social behavior; ghrelin and leptin; effects of thyroid hormones on cognitive function; endocrine dysfunction in diabetes (incretin effect); neural connectivity; electrophysiology; blood cell morphology; auditory pathways; structure and function of the retina.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Achievements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Olympiads and Competitions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>All\u2011Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Physiology, 2025\u20132026 academic year<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1st place:<\/strong>Dmytro Ihorovych Pashchuk<\/li>\n<li><strong>2nd place:<\/strong>Polina Marapulets; Ivanna Dolomanova<\/li>\n<li><strong>3rd place:<\/strong>Alona Serbina; Viktoriia Drivinska; Anna Titenko<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conferences and Scientific Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Members regularly present at student and scientific conferences at NMU and international student forums; several presentations were delivered in English.<br \/>\nTopics covered interdisciplinary fields, leading to invitations for interdepartmental collaboration and further publication activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Achievements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More than\u00a0<strong>70 active members<\/strong>in the 2025\u20132026 academic year.<\/li>\n<li>Students participate in research at the department\u2019s laboratories, the O.O.
