State<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Department and Division of Orthodontics are located at the clinical base of the Dental Medical Centre of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Dentistry at Bogomolets National Medical University (1 Zoologichna Street).<\/p>\n
Treatment and consultation are provided by leading specialists of the modern orthodontic school: Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor T.M. Kostyuk, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor P.S. Flys, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor O.A. Kaniura, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Z.E. Zhegulovich, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor V.V. Filonenko, 12 associate professors, 10 department assistants, and 9 doctors, who apply both their own scientific achievements and the successful experience of foreign colleagues in their work. The orthodontics department includes 10 treatment rooms and a dental laboratory. Five dental technicians work in the dental laboratory to manufacture various modern types of orthodontic appliances.<\/p>\n

The therapeutic activities of the Department of Orthodontics are aimed at the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of orthodontic pathologies and dental and jaw anomalies and deformities among the population. Dental care is provided to civilians and Armed Forces personnel from all over Ukraine. Every year, the staff of the department and the orthodontic unit conduct more than 3,500 consultations and treat more than 2,600 patients.<\/p>\n

The main component in the effort to reduce the number of patients with dental and jaw anomalies and deformities is the timely detection of factors that contribute to the development of pathology. Therefore, in addition to receiving patients at the DMC of NMU, the department staff regularly conduct preventive examinations and sanitary-educational work in organised groups of kindergartens and schools in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region.<\/p>\n

The department staff participate in the development of protocols and standards for the provision of dental and orthodontic care in Ukraine. Lecturers give lectures and conduct practical seminars for orthodontists at dental exhibitions and in medical institutions in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The department’s scientific developments are actively implemented in practice (more than 110 declaratory patents have been obtained for inventions in the field of diagnosis and treatment of dental and jaw anomalies and deformities, which have been introduced into the treatment process).<\/p>\n

Material support<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Dental Medical Centre of the NMU is equipped with modern therapeutic and diagnostic equipment (Sirona (Sidexis) computerised X-ray machine, pantomograph, etc.) and dental units from Chirident, Sirona and Smile, which creates the conditions for high-quality examination and treatment of patients.<\/p>\n
The latest methods of treating patients with dental and jaw anomalies and deformities are being developed and implemented using today’s digital capabilities.<\/p>\n
A modern digital dental laboratory has been set up, enabling the use of advanced technological capabilities for accurate, highly individualised and effective treatment of orthodontic patients.<\/p>\n
The digital laboratory is equipped with three 3D printers, a Medit laboratory scanner, and software modules for visualisation, diagnostics, digital modelling, and three-dimensional printing of dental structures (software name).<\/p>\n
