The project aims include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>clinical experience exchange (teleconferences, clinical discussions, bilateral internships);<\/li>\n<li>academic experience exchange (lectures and telelectures for students, faculty members and doctors);<\/li>\n<li>joint research and publications (in domestic and international periodicals).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/img\/kaferd\/k19\/mizh\/kaf19-6_clip_image002.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"332\" height=\"231\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In 2013, the Department of General Surgery No.\u00a01 began its cooperation with the Circulating Tumor Biomarkers Laboratory of Institut Curie (Paris, France) within the framework of the International Agreement for Scientific Cooperation No. MTA 20130067. The research is aimed at studying the dynamic pattern of the concentration of circulating tumor DNA in plasma samples of patients with non-metastatic pancreatic cancer after surgical removal of the primary tumor.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/img\/kaferd\/k19\/mizh\/kaf19-6_clip_image004.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"219\" height=\"140\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Department\u2019s academic staff is a member of such international associations and societies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>International Association of Pancreatology (IAP)<\/li>\n<li>European Pancreatic Club (EPC)<\/li>\n<li>International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA)<\/li>\n<li>European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES)<\/li>\n<li>European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO)<\/li>\n<li>European Society for Surgical Oncology (ESSO)<\/li>\n<li>European Wound Management Association (EWMO).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They regularly participate in conferences and masterclasses organized by these societies as lecturers and audience members.<\/p>\n<p>Academic staff\u2019s internships, international award and grants received by the staff, Department\u2019s participation in international conferences<\/p>\n<p>In October \u2013 November 2017, two faculty members of the Department of General Surgery No.\u00a01 \u2013 Associate Professor Serhii Zemskov and Associate Professor Kyrylo Burmich \u2013 did internships at leading German clinics.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, the NMU specialists interned at the Surgery Clinic of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (L\u00fcbeck, Germany).<\/p>\n<p>The University Hospital is the home of the internationally acclaimed Center for Pancreatic Surgery lead by Professor Tobias Keck. The Center focuses on the development and implementation of innovative methods of surgical treatment of the organs of hepato-pancreato-biliary area using minimally invasive and endovideosurgcial technologies.<\/p>\n<p>During his internship, Associate Professor Burmich took part in daily morning meetings, medical rounds and patient examinations, workups and treatment of in-patients, medical duties, consultations for patients in other departments of the clinic and in surgeries. The Hospital holds regular thematic advanced trainings and seminars in various areas of surgery. Over the course of his internship, Associate Professor Burmich participated in the training session of the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery (Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Allgemeine- und Viszeralchirurgie (DGAV) entitled \u201cMethods and Skills in Laparoscopic Surgery of the Pancreas\u201d, a workshop \u201cMethods and Skills in Laparoscopic Surgery of the Pancreas\u201d organized by <em>Olympus<\/em>, a workshop \u201cMethods and Skills in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery\u201d organized by Pfizer.<\/p>\n<p>The University of L\u00fcbeck developed <em>L\u00fcbecker Toolbox<\/em>, a training tool for mastering and improvement of practical skills in keyhole surgery. The training program consists of four modules and six exercises in hand-eye coordination, bimanual exercises and intracorporate suture. While doing his internship, Associate Professor Burmich took this training course and received a respective certificate.<\/p>\n<p>Serhii Zemskov, Associate Professor of the Department of General Surgery No.\u00a01 did internship in two clinics: the Surgery Clinic of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (L\u00fcbeck, Germany) and the University Hospital of Heidelberg (Heidelberg, Germany).<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of his internship, Serhii Zemskov studied the innovative approaches in abdominal surgery and was directly involved in the following surgeries:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; da Vinci robotic surgical system \u2013 assisted total mezorectumectomy due to rectum cancer;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Laparoscopic pancreato-duodenectomy;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Laparoscopic shaping of biliodigestive anastomosis;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Shaping of various kinds of pancreato-digestive anastomoses, pancreatojejunal anastomosis, duct-to-mucosa, invagination pancreatojejunal anastomosis, pancreatogastric anastomosis;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; TEP hernia repair;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Hepatectomy (of the 5<sup>th<\/sup> segment, left-side hemihepatectomy) with parenchyma bipartition using the crush-and-clamp technique with LigaSure apparatus to treat cirrhosis;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Renal transplantation from a living donor: laparoscopic nephrectomy in the donor \u2013 treatment of the kidney with custodiol \u2013 open nephrectomy and kidney implantation to the recipient;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Intraabdominal intrasurgery radiation therapy using the HIPEC method in colorectal cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, Associate Professor S.\u00a0Zemskov studied many aspects of post-surgery management of such patients, including in intensive care settings, and aspects of teaching surgery to students and young assistant doctors.<\/p>\n<p>The staff of the Department of General Surgery No.\u00a01 estimates their internship experience as very positive, underlining that it can be of great use in our surgeons\u2019 clinical work and optimize the results of comprehensive treatment of patients, and can be used for the Department\u2019s research and teaching purposes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img height=\"913\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In June 2018, Professor O.\u00a0Dronov, Department Chairman, and Professor S.\u00a0Zemskov together with colleagues from the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein presented a joint poster presentation Pancreas Club 2018 in Washington and did an internship in Allegheny General Hospital, Cancer Institute (Pittsburg, USA).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" O.\u00a0Dronov was elected Vice President of the International Society of Cryosurgery.<\/p>\n<p>The Department\u2019s Professor S.\u00a0Zemskov and Assistant Professor Ye.\u00a0Kozachuk delivered occasion of academician Professor V.\u00a0Zemskov\u2019s 80<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary and Professor O.\u00a0Dronov\u2019s 60<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\"
