The main goal of our activity – is the formation of high-quality theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the prevention and conservative treatment of diseases of the teeth, periodontal tissues and oral mucosa.

The working programs of the disciplines taught at the department were created in accordance with the Standard of Higher Education of Ukraine in the specialty 221 “Dentistry” of the field of knowledge 22 “Health care” for the second (master’s) level of higher education, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine No. 879 dated 24.06.2019 r.; Educational and professional program “Dentistry”, of the second (master’s) level of higher education in specialty 221 “Dentistry” field of knowledge 22 “Health care”, approved by the Academic Council of NMU named after O.O. Bogomolets (with changes and additions), protocol No. 12 dated 04/28/2022.
The content of educational programs and thematic plans is adapted to the programs/thematic plans of medical universities in Europe, in particular the Medical University of Warsaw (Medical University of Warsaw, Poland).
The teaching staff is represented by 2 MD and 24 PhD. Our teachers are experienced practitioners.
The organization of training at the department provides 70% of the time for mastering practical skills.
Already in the II year of study, you will start practical activities, practicing basic dental manipulations on phantoms.
From the 3rd year of study – you will be able to work with real patients: under the supervision of teachers, create comprehensive plans for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of dental diseases, based on the principles of evidence-based medicine, to perform stages of conservative treatment, to involve in the implementation of the treatment and diagnostic programs created by you the power of the departments of surgical, prosthetic , and orthodontic dentistry located in the same building.
To acquire and practice practical skills, you have at your disposal 2 phantom classes and 7 clinical offices equipped with modern equipment and materials, an x-ray department, a diagnostic laboratory.
The quality of education is ensured by the teaching of the modern concept of Dental therapy (lectures, demonstrations, consultations, practical trainings, practice-oriented case methods) and the control/correction of the knowledge and skills you have acquired by the teachers at each lesson (written and oral survey, testing, verification of the mastery of practical skills ).
Upon completion of the study of a separate section of the discipline, you will be able to verify the quality of the knowledge you have acquired at the Final Examination conducted by professors and associate professors of the department (the level of mastery of practical skills is checked, a writing and oral survey, testing is conducted).

In the case of insufficient mastery of the educational material, time is provided for additional preparation and the possibility of retaking the final examination.
Particular attention is paid much attention to the development of the theoretical component and practical skills necessary for successful completion of KROK and OSCE (work with KROK 2 test bases, additional practical trainings).
Academic integrity is an integral component of cooperation with the department and is guaranteed by the Regulations on academic integrity at O.O. Bogomolets and the Regulation on the system of internal quality assurance of higher education NMU named after O.O. Bogomolets, regulating the observance of academic integrity.
Distance education : preference is given to face-to-face education, however, in the event of restrictions stipulated by the Orders on the transition to distance education of O.O. Bogomolets, the department provides the educational process in distance (face-to-face) form: educational content has been created, methods of conducting classes and control measures have been adapted, accompanying materials have been developed.
The result of studying at the Department of Conservative Dentisry will be your acquisition of professional skills (competencies) in the prevention of dental diseases, preservation of the health of teeth, organs and tissues of the oral cavity, and in case of detection of existing pathological changes – restoration of anatomical form and physiological function by therapeutic methods without surgical interventions.
Strategy for the development of educational activities of the department:
- regular updating of educational and methodological support in accordance with modern global dental recommendations based on the principles of evidence-based medicine;
- orientation to a student-centered approach to teaching;
- prioritization of the prevention vector of dental diseases.
