The Department is the profile, graduation at the faculty of pharmacy, where students are taught three base pharmaceutical disciplines: Pharmaceutical Botany, Pharmacognosy, resources of medicinal plants, and also special course « Medicinal herbs and herbal drugs and quality control» for the fifth year students of the pharmaceutical faculty. All disciplines and courses are taught to pharmacy student’s faculty of full time and correspondence courses.
In order to implement the credit-module system in educational process the Department created methodological framework for the 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd year in Pharmaceutical Botany and Pharmacognosy.
In order to improve the educational process, the teachers of the Department developed and published 14 textbooks (workbooks) on pharmaceutical botany, pharmacognosy, resources of medicinal plants and specialization in Ukrainian and English.
These manuals are basic for students to perform practical tasks in classrooms and during independent work. This approach makes it possible to optimize the control of knowledge acquisition by the student and his preparation for the final control of the discipline. To improve distance education, teachers created video lectures on the main disciplines and posted them on the department’s website. Based on the materials of the booklets of the Unified State Qualification Examination (“KROK 1” and “KROK 2”), electronic explanatory manuals for the tests have been prepared. The teachers of the department created a herbarium fund of medicinal plants and samples of raw materials and developed methodical and didactic materials that ensured the high quality of the educational process.
